0.25
= 0.25/1.00
=25/100
Both are divisible by 5, so divide 25 by 5 and 100 by 5.
=5/20
Again, divide both by 5.
=1/4

This works well for most simple decimals, but once you get into the thousandths place (i.e. 0.568) it can get complicated, but it can stil work by the same principles.

put the .25 over one hundred since it is 25 100's if it was .5 it would be 5 10's and so on and so fourth.. so 25 over 100 would simplify to to 1/4 and 5/10 would be 1/2 hope this helps you out

ok...if the whole of cake is 100%...then .25...is 25 over 100...25 into 25 goes once ..so 25 becomes 1 ...25 into 100 goes 4 times ...so it becomes 1 over 4 ..does that make it clearer..if it was .375 then you have 1 for the decimal point and 0 for each number ..so it becomes 375 over 1000....HIP..hope that helps

.25 is twenty-five hundreths, the same thing as 25/100. that simplifies to 1/4 by dividing numerator and denominator by 25.
