both have about a similar fee of hearth and would carry round a similar quantity of ammo of their mags. Thompson fee of hearth is six hundred-1200 rounds in line with min and between 20 - 100 rounds in a mag or drum. AK47 has a fee of hearth of six hundred rounds in line with min and would carry 20 - seventy 5 rounds in a mag or drum. the Thompson used the 40 5 ACP round and the AK47 makes use of the 7.62mmX39. The AK47 is lighter by about 2 kilos both empty and loaded and is gas operated as hostile to blow decrease back operated like the Thompson. i imagine blow decrease back operation may be somewhat more desirable because there are not any gas tubes to get bent or tousled. The AK has a a lot more desirable max effective selection. 600m as compared to 50m i have not in any respect shot a Thompson yet I have considered the AK in action. The Thompson is a sub device gun and is can lay down a wall of lead for short tiers. The AK is quite reliable and is an attack rifle so it is puzzling to say it is more desirable. The AK is alot more cost-effective to make and continues for use excellent this second because of that and it is reliable.

a lot of terrorists use AK's because their cheap, but the thompson's been around since the 20's. Thompsons and M1 Garrands were used in WWII, but the thompson is still around, so it must not be 2 bad. But i agree with "The Big Shot" on this, M16, GL attachment should be fun if u can get it.

Go with the M-16. The AK is a gun used by terrorists and gangsters.

An AK is more reliable, has greater range, and is fairly inexpensive. The Thompson shoots a short range (50- yards) 45 cal pistol round. The auots are illegal, but the semi-autos are legal. Check your state laws.

AK 47

Today they are both out-of-date, crude, stupid, violent tools of idiots.

The AK47 is a junky Russian make that couldn't hit the broad side of a dacha unless you keep spraying long enough to knock off a family pet and maybe Aunt Nadya* in the process.

Don't blame the NY Police for adopting the General John T. Thompson's invention--way back in 1920...! Even the FBI declared it obsolete--in 1976!

What's a good day--even Ice Cube is smart enough to know:

"Today I didn't even have to use my A.K.
I got to say it was a good day"

* by the way, "Nadya" means "hope." Hey, you learned something!

Neither are illegal, but require a special permit to own. The AK is the more powerful of the 2.Check with your state to be sure though.

It's like comparing Granny smiths to Golden delicious. They both have two different roles, but both were well made

Thompson uses pistol ammo, and the AK uses rifle ammo

Depending on the state and if you complete all the hoops that the BATF has they are both legal

I have owned both and they are inexpensive to shoot and a lot of fun.
The Thompson does jam but it is not hard to clear.
The AK is not a "PRETTY" gun but it is almost impossible to jam.
You can drag it in the mud and it will keep shooting.
