I know you wrap it in foil, but how do you get the butter in it? Just peel the husk back a bit and it will drain down? And how long do you cook it?

I'll tell you what we do,, we just get the corn and take the "silk" out and then just put it husk and all on the grill. It has the best flavor you will ever taste. Now also I will put Vidalia onions in tin foil and put butter on them and grill them and do the same for sweet potatoes.

Begin by pulling the husks of the corn back, but do not remove them. Remove and discard the silk and then soak the whole cobs in a pot of cold water for 15 minutes.

Preheat the grill to a medium temperature.

Remove the corn from the water and brush the kernels with olive oil. Before you re-wrap the corn in the husks, add a little caramelized garlic, chopped onion, nutmeg and black pepper.

For an international twist, try using herbs such as basil, cilantro, or oregano.

Then reposition the husks over the kernels and tie each ear with a piece of loose husk or twine.

Place the prepared ears of corn on a medium heat, turning every 2 minutes.

After a couple of turns, place the corn husk on an indirect heat or on the top shelf of your grill and close the cover.

Allow the corn to slowly roast for another 15 minutes.

You will know it is done when you press a kernel and it shoots out it’s sweet liquid.

Soak The corn with kusks on for about 4-5 hours. Shake the water out and place on grill. Leave on till most of the husks burned off. You still should have a layer of husks protecting the corn. This does not take long. Remove, pull down husks and remove silk. roll in butter and enjoy. It is delicious.

Why would you wrap it in foil???
If you are leaving the husks on the corn, you DO NOT wrap it
in foil! You just put them on the grill and, when the husk turns
brown on the grill side, you rotate it until it is brown, slightly
black all the way around, then take it off the grill, peel the husk and
butter and salt.
If you take the husks off first, that is when you wrap the corn
in foil, dull side toward corn. In this case, you can butter the corn
before wrapping in foil.

hi
we don't use foil here in Minnesota. We peel the outer husks away, pull the silk away as much of it as you can. Then we soak ours in a clean pail or sink of cold water. We put it on a hot grill and turn it often. It is usually on the grill a good hour. That water causes good steam action. Brush on real melted butter after you have roasted corn and peeled away the husks and any leftover silk as best you can.

I don't use foil. I just melt a little butter in a frying pan with some garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, black pepper, red pepper flakes and a little salt and then I place the corn directly on the grill in a medium to low heat area and allow it to cook while basting it with the butter mixture periodically. Very spicy and evtremely good. You can also use a bunch of thyme or rosemary to baste the corn for additional flavor.

Here's a basic grilled corn on the cob recipe:

4 ears of corn, husked
Butter
Olive oil
Salt to taste

Lay the ears directly on the grill over very hot coals. Grill, turning to brown them evenly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Season them to tase with butter, olive oil and salt.

wow...hum..hum..sounds good..just put the butter into the foil...you can add it to the cobs in foil before putting on the coals that way they won't dry out. If you coals are hot probably cook on grill for about 20 minutes
