I just got a rott/lab mix and live in mesa az and this dog wandered into our house 4 days ago. We don't know how long she was outside. She won't hardly eat and has not pooped since she found us. We don't have enough money for a vet at this moment. Is there anything we can get from the store for her. Other then this she seems to be doing fine. When she came to us the weather was 110*.We would like to give her a good home and until we get on our feet......Any suggestions

Right freakin' on ...for taking her in. There should be more people like you..everywhere.
If the dog is a puppy it could have Parvo virus. Dogs that have parvo don't eat or drink and they get dehydrated. You can check to see how dehydrated she is by gently grabbing some skin on her back between you thumb and a couple of fingers and pull up(gently). The skin should go right back down. If it doesn't right away, then she is really dehydrated and probably needs to see a vet and get an IV of whatever that stuff is that they put in there..liquids.
Worst case scenario is that she has parvo.
BUT, it's just more than likely that she has had heat stroke. Keep lots of water available for her and offer it to her allot too.
But don't give it to her if she is not healthy looking. Like are her ribs sticking out?
Oh, what color are her gums? They should be a healthy looking pink. If they are almost white she is still a really sick dog.
I'm thinkin' that by the time you get all of the replies from here, and she hasn't made any improvement...take her to the vet.
But ya can't poop if you've got not enough to poop out.
If she passes the dehydration test and her gums are a healthy lookin' pink and she seams to be constipated...give her about 3 tbls. of Mineral Oil. you can get it at Walmart, stores like that.
Hopefully that will help.
No matter what, it would still be a good idea to take her to a vet. Just to get her checked out. You have no backround on this poor girl at all.
I know that sometimes it's hard to 'cash-up' to go to the vet, unless it is an emergency.
Good luck and you have really earned some gold stars for taking her in when she needed help.. ;o)

If she hasn't had a bowel movement in four days you really should take her in, some vets let you make payments. That could be a sign of an intestinal blockage, which will kill an animal, or person quickly. She may be too nervous to poop. I would try a home remedy first maybe, search the web and look for something. But don't waste any more time wondering. That could be fatal. Call the animal shelter and see if anyone was looking for her, or if they can suggest how you can help her. Good luck

Well she might not be pooping because she hasnt been eating. Lots of dogs wont eat when they get in a new environment. Give her some time and she may warm up to the new surroundings. If she doesnt start having bowel movement within a couple of days, you have an obligation to either find some money to take it to the vet, or take it to the pound so they can have their vet look at her. As a dog owner you are being neglectful by taking in a dog that you can not afford to take care of.

I heavily doubt it turned right into a real Seeing Eye dogs. even as there are countless courses that prepare dogs to education guide the blind, only dogs that graduate from the Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ are acceptable talked about as Seeing Eye dogs. The Seeing Eye is extremely certain of their handler education that the handler is one hundred% responsible for cleansing up after their dogs. you do not might want to be certain poop to %. it up. you comprehend which end of the dogs is which, and the dogs only loos on command so that you comprehend the even as and the position of poopology. A hand is inserted in a plastic poop bag like a glove and then the scooper feels round for the nice and cozy temperature squooshy stuff, grasps it, and turns the bag interior out. it is the very similar for a sighted man or woman who walks their dogs at nighttime and could scoop interior the darkish. If I noted someone enable their dogs poop and under no circumstances %. it up, even if or not they were blind, i'd communicate about that their dogs only pooped and hand them a poop bag. If someone ought to no longer scoop because of their incapacity, say they couldn't attain it from their wheel chair, and they requested for help i'd supply it without hesitation. in the different case they get the glare of contempt for no longer scooping.

It is possible that the dog is afraid and uncomfortable. Call a vet and ask for advice, that can't charge you over the phone. I suspect it will be eating and pooping any day now.

Try giving her a couple tablespoons of plain canned pumpkin, It is good for constipation and diahreah. I use it on my own dogs if needed. Remember not the spiced stuff.
