have you thought about looking around your own area? We never appreciate what's on our doorstep and leave local sightseeing to visitors while we go to their locality. Make a 48 hour plan of things to see and do within a 20 mile radius, stick to it and you'll be able to talk about what's nearby rather than just read about it in the tourist guides!
