If you're consuming 1000 calories or less a day, that's extremely dangerous. Go see a doctor, for sure. Get your calories elsewhere. Also, to try and lose weight, don't worry too much about what you eat, (if you eat too little, you definitely will get bloated, from water retention) exercise at least 2 or three times a week, and drink lots of water. Nothing wrong with drinking soda once or twice a day either =P. You should probably have at least 2000 calories in your diet by the way, and you SHOULD be consuming at least some polyunsaturated/saturated fats, and SHOULD have protein, and SHOULD have carbohydrates too (complex are better than simple though, but nothing wrong with drinking pop every so often)

Gaining and losing weight is all about calories. So if a person that drinks a lot of soda suddenly stops drinking soda their daily calories will go down and they will lose weight. Soda is bad for you no matter how you look at it but you would get the same results from cutting calories anywhere in your diet. I can tell you this... if you stop drinking soda for long enough you'll stop wanting it so much. It's an acquired taste. I recommend stopping not just because of the calories but because of all the other chemicals. If you put one of your teeth in a glass of soda before bed when you woke up the tooth would be gone. That is a fact. Think about that and then think of how your insides feel when you drink it.
Here is a link to get and idea of how many you should have a day.

Realize that Soda is empty calories, an aweful lot of them. There is no nutritional value to them and most contain literally spoonfulls of processed sugar. Sugar is easier for the body to turn inot fat so in the long run cutting down on sweeted sodas can help a great deal. Be careful with diet sodas as the sweeterners can aggravate other medical conditions.
My suggestion would be to drink water and limit sodas to mealtimes. If you just have to have a soda look for diet sodas with Splenda as it is safer. Pepsi One, Coke Zero are both good options that taste pretty good.
Hope this helps.

Generally sodas (not diet) have a ton of sugar and calories, so yes, they would make someone gain weight -- if their overall calorie intake is greater than the amount of calories they burn.
Eating 1000 calories a day or less may be putting someone's body in starvation mode which could cause weight gain.

The average 8 oz glass of soda has 120-180 calories from sugar and even diet soda has so much sodium that it will contribute to fluid retention. Also, some scientists are questioning the effect of the artificial sweeteners on healthy homeostasis and metabolic rate. So, switching to water can only help.

Soda contains a LOT sugar, which can be transformed into either energy should your body demand it or fat if you stay inactive. Generally, total sugar/carb/calorie/fat intake is what determines your weight, based on your diet alone. You can consume something like 10,000 calories a day and still be lean if you work a demanding job like those crab fishers or whatever.

Soda is slop for the hogs! It is the worst thing in the world to drink. It does nothing for you except add fat. The bloating is because of the carbination in it. As soon as I stopped drinking soda I lost 10 lbs!(just like Hillary). Good luck.

Yes I used to drink soda every day, when I stopped I lost 20lbs! It was the only thing I did different in my routine! Not only because of the sugar in it but the carbonation and caffeine are not good for you as well.

Yes, it can slow down your metabolism as it messes up your blood sugar (even artificial sweetners can mimic sugar response). Also all the salt in the soda can trigger hunger or snacking and also changes your hydration -- you need water and lots of it to really lose weight. Less soda is really helpful, even if you miss it in the first couple days.... you'll adjust.
Good luck!

easily. commonplace sodas have plenty and quite some energy. i have study that Dr. Pepper is between the worst offenders, too, surely. swap to foodstuff plan soda. That enables, notwithstanding the carbonated water that is in any soda (foodstuff plan or no longer) can bloat you and make you crave fatty meals that are not accurate for you. that is a complicated component, you kinda might want to bypass with the "nicely, that is worse?" reasoning, yet I swear, weight-reduction plan is deprivation sufficient. i visit't stay without my foodstuff plan coke! haha
