moving can suck; been there, done that (several times). The trick is to just be yourself. Be comfortable in who you are and making new friends won't be so hard. Just start talking to the people in your classes. Talk to the people who sit around, talk to those whom you start to find things in common with. Eventually you will find some people that you share some common interests with and a friendship will start. As far as how to start talking to people, you can just introduce yourself, say "Hi. I'm ____. I just moved here" and go from there. You can talk to them about what's going in class or at the school. Just start talking. And speaking from experience, it usually doesn't take long before you find someone to be friendly with. Moving to a new high school is much easier, I think, than it would be in middle school. High school has a reputation for being tough, brutal to the outcasts and nerds, not always being the best experience but I have to disagree. Middle schoolers are at the age where they are brutal. They are so cliquey and it is so hard to break into these cliques and make friends when you are new. But once kids get into high school, they start to mature, the cliques become less rigid and elitist and it is much easier to become friends with people. Good luck, and trust me, it my suck a little, but I promise you moving isn't all that bad and you will make new friends, just give it a little time.
