You can always sign up for a membership at ur nearest gym, or you could simply work out in the privacy of your own home. You can search online for good ab workouts, you could try working out with some exercise videos, or you could pick up some fitness magazine at the store. As for diets, i think the south beach diet is pretty good. Go to their websites to learn more about it. If the diet doesnt appeal to you, you can just try taking in less carbs..eat often during the day, but keep the meals small. That's really all you have to do, portion control. And drink lots of water.

I've been losing weight myself. I've lost 98lbs in 15 months. The only real exercise I do is ride a bike and walk. I ride every day about 3 0r 4 miles a day and walk 3 times a week for 30 minutes or so. I don't really diet and that's the key. Small portions and a couple of snacks. Healthy foods, no fried foods and very little suger. Don't deny yourself goodies all together, but far and in between. You'll get it done if you stick to it, I did. Good luck!

dont go on any diets. they are horrible and eventually you will guit and then get more fatter.
so here is what you should do.
everytime you clean the house, you are working out. so take that into consideration.
go walk in your area with a pal or a dog.
you can do basic workouts while vaccuming or washing dishes or folding cloths or watching tv.
you can also start by eating healthier. not going on diets. i mean, like try not to eat out so much. if you must, then go once per week. try to cook with no colesteral oil. have more fruits and veggies.
dont start to workout too much becus then your body will get tired and you will quit fast and you wont want to start again. you need to start small. okay? good luck

don't try a specific diet. just count your calories.
i've heard walking is great for reducing belly fat, or any cardio activity for that matter. you must break a sweat though, not a leisurely walk! I have a membership to the gym at the hospital. see if your hospital has a gym. it's not a meat-market there.

i used a diet which i lost 15 lbs in 6 weeks.....

fish, turkey, chicken, fruits, veggies, & nuts + iced tea, gatorade or water. no breads (carbs) or soda. also you HAVE to work out 3 or 4x a week. I dont mean only running. lifting burns calories too. and you eat 2-4 meals a day. no snacking, unless its on foods such as grapes. it's almost like atkins, but it's a bit different, and healthier.

Body by God by Dr. Ben Lerner- the most common sensical and comprehensive guide- I absolutely love it and HIGHLY reccomend it - it is about lifestyle change and not a "diet" that you go on for results then go back to being overweight
He walks you thorough it so it is not overwhelming to make a lot of changes at once

At a gym, or in your own bedroom. Look up workouts or diets on line. Pick up a magazine at the check out counter.

Diet is the key not exercise. Heavy exercise may actually block fat burning because your body is well fuelled from burning glycogen in the muscles. What do you call healthy food? Most people don't know what is healthy as it's only what they have heard in the media.

I have lost around 60 lbs in 6 months and I will tell you what not to eat. The first myth we have been told is that fat is bad. Sugar and carbohydrate is the big nasty. In fact reduced fat food that has had some fat removed is actually more fattening than the regular food because the removed fat in most cases is replaced with carbs! This is the main reason why you must absolutely stay away from ALL processed food with no exception. Eat fresh and natural.

The other thing you must do is keep your insulin as low as possible by getting sugar and carbs in your diet as close to zero as you can and not having ANYTHING between meals. Also having at least 5 hours between one meal and another. The last meal of the day must be no later than 9pm. Insulin is a hormone that will absolutely block fat and protein burning in your body and force it to burn sugar, that's how it works. You will NOT lose weight with your blood stream flooded with insulin.

You must have at least 8 glasses of water a day, in order for your liver and kidneys to excrete the fat from your body this is crucial.

Now, what you must stay away from and I mean, non at all. Bread, pasta, rice, pastry, sugar, potato, onion, parsnip, sweet potato, pumpkin, beetroot, carrots, peas, spreads like butter and margarine and be very careful of sauces and condiments. Fruit and milk should be taken very, very sparingly because they are fattening. Fruit is full of sugar too, only a very small amount. Avoid all processed food including diet soda it will stimulate insulin. 3 cups of black tea or coffee WITH meals a day is OK.

OK, if you are still with me, what can you eat? In a nutshell you replace the carbs you have removed with protein and green leafy vegetables. Do not mix protein only 1 per meal. This is what you can eat. Lean meat, poultry, fish, cheese, yoghurt and eggs are your permitted proteins. Cauliflower, cabbage, sprouts, broccoli, capsicum, mushroom, celery, zucchini and a small amount of tomato. You can have unlimited amounts of lettuce and cucumber but ONLY at meal times. You can use balsamic vinegar as a dressing; mustard is ok too but only made from the powder. Shop bought is full of sugar! Curry powder in cooking can be used as well. One tablespoon of olive oil is ok per day, in cooking and as a dressing.

I will GUARANTEE if you stick to this you will loose heaps of weight, fast. I know it's not easy and you need the support of your family too.

Just another couple of things I forgot. NO breakfast cereal and avoid really heavy exercise you will just burn glycogen in your muscles, not fat and it will just make you sore and tired. You need prolonged gentle exercise to burn fat like walking. You don't need to exercise at all on this diet as long as you're moving about. Last but not least read food labels and look at the ingredients. Avoid foods like the plague with more than 5 grams of carbohydrate per 100 grams.

Good Luck. Jules, lecturer. Australia.
