after he gets out of the litterbox from a poop, he scoots along the floor to get the last of his poop out! Yes, I know it's disgusting! Is there anything that can be done? He doesn't have constipation - for some reason he just can't get all his poop out without scooting! What can I do? I don't want to get rid of him, I've had him for 9 years. Please, this is not a joke post, and if you have some stupid comment just keep it to yourself. I really need to hear from people who've dealt with this or are in the vet biz to give me some advice! Thanks!

take the cat to the vet might be worms or parasites, don't let your hubby get rid of your friend.

i have cats as well, and while non of them do this I wouldn't get rid of any of them if they did. My only advice is to pu the cat box in a location that the floor can easily be cleaned up and don;t let the cat out of that area until his scooting is done. Probably not hat great of an answer, but i hope it helps a little bit.

The first thing to do is to see if the anal glands are compacted, I suggest you go ask your vet how to do it, its easier to see done then read how to be done(it kinda sucks to do)

When the glands get full its cause pain because they have no muscles that can push it all out, the purpose of the glands is to mark territory, and when you fix a cat they have no more need for marking things, so their glands can fill up, its a problem with some cats & dogs, but other will never have a problem with it.

Too bad about your Mom. Any other relatives? Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, anyone? I have over 10 cats. I can appreciate your love for them. It's a tough spot to be in, but I think the more important question here is why are you joining the military? Especially at a time like now?

Aww I know I have had my cat for 13 years..Take him to the vet he probably just has worms..check his stool as some worms can be seen..take a poop sample to the vet..Put it on a clean plastic stick or just take a fresh sample out of the litter box and put it a baggie..the vet can work around the litter...it is easy to get rid of..your cat is just itchy,.this should help..

Sounds like your cat could use a little fiber. If cats have a good diet, the "last poop" syndrome occurs very rarely.

Check with your vet about switching him to food that is higher in fiber.

Try getting him a bigger litter box. It worked for my cat. I also put in Arm & Hammer every day to cover up the odor. I was hoping that by doing that the smell wouldn't cause her to leave the litter box to soon.

You might also try taking him to the groomers and have the hair around his behind trimmed. That usually solves the problem as well.

Somehow, something worked for her.

You should get/put a rug in front of his litter box so when he scoots, he scoots on the rug but make sure its one of those rubber cat rugs so that its not like fabric that you know. But you will need to wash that cat rug.

I'd say get rid of him!!! Think of it this way, would you want to be forced to live with something that totally grosses YOU out and makes YOU feel uncomforatable all the time? You shouldn't force your husband to do that either. It's a hygiene issue. You can get worms yourself you know. People CAN get worms from pets. And you can get them from stepping on cat feces. And to all of these jerks who tell you to "get rid of your husband" instead of your cat are stupid. A husband should mean waaay more to you than any pet. And his needs should be more important than any pets needs.
