Yes, a biopsy, correct! However, Ive never heard of someone not being able to figure it out (this is a friend, I suggested her father see another specialtist. I doth believe the fellow is a quack!)

The doctor should biopsy the tumor and send it to a lab that will be able to tell if it is malignant or benign. If the doctor doesn't offer to do this, find another doctor.

The biopsy is the only way to know whether or not a tumor is benign or malignant. The bad news is that if it's malignant and you do the biopsy, it releases cancer cells into the body and it has a high probability of metastasis. This is because the cutting of the tumor will release cancer cells into the bloodstream no matter how careful the surgeon is.

A biopsy is the only way and if a biopsy is not possible for whatever reason then it is impossible to know if the tumour is benign or malignant.

Only a biopsy will confirm either way. Some tumors have shapes that are very distinct and lead to conclusions, but still biopsy is done to confirm.

there is no way to know without taking a sample of the actual tumor and looking at it under a microscope and possibly doing tests on the tissue sample. There are "gross" indicators of malignancy (meaning able to look at without using a microscope) but that would also mean the tumor is already visible at the skin surface. If it is internal, the doctor will need to get that sample.

Usually a biopsy would reveal if its good or bad. Doctors can't tell if its malignant or benign just looking at it. Lab work has to be done.

The only sure way to know is through a biopsy.

Yes. They have to send it to a Pathologist to determine whether the tumor is malignant or benign. No worries that is common.

No, they have no way of knowing until it goes to the lab.I had a tumor taken out of my leg that looked to be in a bad spot but it was benign after the testing.Good Luck!
