Man, I've been a nice guy all my life and early on... it only made me a target for the asshole guys to bust on and take advantage of to boost their masculinity. I always thought it was childish to say and do stuff that they said and did just because they got away with it... so long as they didn't lay a hand on me.
If I were you though, I would get out there and be more proactive and outgoing to get people to know the real you. Approach individuals and seem interested in their life (Or be interested!) and just talk to them... Be real. It sounds like you're fine but you need to show it to everyone else
