Why is Islam so mis-understood?

Well,in quite a whole load of questions here,I have been finding Islam in it.. Some merely asking things BUT HAVING THE MOST OFFENSIVE ANSWERS... Why is Islam Mis-Understood as the religion of terrorists and the religion that encourages terrorism? It's true that terrorists do bad things with killing and murdering and bombing and stuff but who in god's name said they're Muslims? Oh,and by the way,those people aren't really considered Muslims to god,they're just... Sticking themselves to it as a method of hiding. I'm a muslim,you don't see me asking a question like this everyday,do you? I just posted this question because I felt the urgent need to express myself about this matter as I had been seeing a lot of offensive stuff lately over here.I've reported and reported and nobody took nothing in their account. Please,people,tell me,why do you mis-understand Islam?Maybe for once we can have a talk in which Islam will be explained in the terms like in Quran..& Im willing2have da Islam side.

Do you know that 1 out of every 900,000,000 muslims is a terrorist?

I agree with you that most, and I mean the vast majority of Muslims, are not terrorists, and those fanatics are putting a bad face on a good religion. It is the fact that the "Islamic" governments are not doing enough to stop or at least, control them.

The KKK and other hate groups claim to be "Christian", but in fact stand for everything Christians do not. If they started to bomb countries, and terrorize the world, our government would step in before others felt they had to retaliate against the USA.
While these groups have committed atrocious acts, they are investigated by our law enforcement long before any other country has to worry about them.

I also think the fact that different factions of Islam terrorize each other, and bomb each others mosques, etc., hurts the image.

Just as some denominations of Chistianity look harsh to some, with their rules about women etc., Islam sometimes takes it too extremes that Westerners just cannot understand.

That's my take on it. I hope I didn't offend, but rather shed a little light on the issue.

We like to generalize, and because, right now, most terrorist acts that we hear of are performed by Muslims, it kinda follows that we get angry at anything Muslim.

In addition we hear statements (if it is printed it must be right) from people who may or may not know what they are talking about reinforcing that the acts are condoned in the Quran.

Until extremists stop using the holy books to further their ends, religious persecution will exist.

It is hard to convince people that Islam is a peaceful religion which actually allows for other religions when people are being killed by extremists fighting a holy war and because they want to convert to chistianity.

The problem is that one guy shouting is heard better than 500 people being quit: the media reports the killing, but very little of the good done by the truly devout.

For me, I would like to apologize for the pain inflicted by my lack of knowledge, and for the rest, please forgive them, for they know not what they do.

According to you numbers, if everyone was Muslim, there would be 7 terrorists?????
