Peace of mind. No stress about going to Heaven. No worry about Hell. Because of the belief they don't exist. With religion comes worries if you are worthy enough.

i'm not sure what you're getting at. i'm not an atheist but i don't believe they are free from "regulations." just because someone does not share a belief in god does not necessarily mean they will steal, lie, cheat or pilliage. most atheists i know follow a moral standard that is upheld with more fervor than the christians, agnostics and pagans i know. if you believe this is your only go - around, you might be inclined to live your life better and more in the moment. you would want to be remembered for being a good person, not bad.

Atheism offers nothing BECAUSE, NOTHING IS NEEDED !!!

Atheism only exists to counter the theists' attempt to CONTROL the atheists. If the theists kept to themselves and did not attempt to influence the atheists, then probably the theists would never again hear from the atheists. For the most part, if left alone, atheists could care less about theists and what they do in the privacy of their homes or meeting places.

Atheism is only a natural reaction by atheists to defend against the overreaching by theists. To the very limited extent that atheists are organized, it is only for strength in numbers to combat the theists' imposition of their concepts.

Atheism offers nothing. There is nothing 2B offered OR NEEDED

Nothing, u don't become an atheist to get something, and it's not free of regulations, we obey the law and have morals just like everyone else. All that we get out of being atheists is the knowledge we are following what we believe in, there are no bribes or rewards for our beliefs!

supergrumper has it all wrong.

Athiesm has "illogical theories"?

I think an illogical theory is some dude made the universe in 6 days, created beings from clay and one from a rib of another, drowned the planet, except for all the animals that could fit in a boat, and sent his only son to die for a mistake that he himself made.

Give me a break.

Back to the original question, athiesm offers reality

"An Atheist loves himself and his fellow man instead of a god.  An Atheist knows that heaven is something for which we should work now - here on earth - for all men together to enjoy.  An Atheist thinks that he can get no help through prayer but that he must find in himself the inner conviction and strength to meet life, to grapple with it, to subdue, and enjoy it.  An Atheist thinks that only in a knowledge of himself and a knowledge of his fellow man can he find the understanding that will help to a life of fulfillment.  Therefore, he seeks to know himself and his fellow man rather than to know a god.  An Atheist knows that a hospital should be built instead of a church.  An Atheist knows that a deed must be done instead of a prayer said.  An Atheist strives for involvement in life and not escape into death.  He wants disease conquered, poverty vanquished, war eliminated.  He wants man to understand and love man.  He wants an ethical way of life.  He knows that we cannot rely on a god nor channel action into prayer nor hope for an end to troubles in the hereafter.  He knows that we are our brother's keeper and keepers of our lives; that we are responsible persons, that the job is here and the time is now."  ~ Madalyn Murray (later O'Hair), preamble to Murray v. Curlett, 27 April 1961

It's a consequence of the experience of science. As you learn more and more about the universe, you find you can understand more and more without any reference to supernatural intervention, so you lose interest in that possibility. Most scientists I know don't care enough about religion even to call themselves atheists. And that, I think, is one of the great things about science -- that it has made it possible for people not to be religious. ~ Steven Weinberg, quoted in Natalie Angier, "Confessions of a Lonely Atheist," New York Times Magazine, January 14, 2001

"The opposite of the religious fanatic is not the fanatical atheist but the gentle cynic who cares not whether there is a god or not." ~ Eric Hoffer

"In some awful, strange, paradoxical way, atheists tend to take religion more seriously than the practitioners."  ~ Jonathon Miller

"I contend that we are both atheists.  I just believe in one fewer god than you do.  When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."  ~ Stephen Roberts

"A thorough reading and understanding of the Bible is the surest path to atheism” ~ Donald Morgan

"An agnostic is basically an atheist without any balls." ~ Stephen Colbert

About 80 IQ points! lol...sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyway...I'm not an atheist persay but similar in ideology and the main benefit is total freedom. Freedom to think, feel and experience the world without silly backwards superstitions. Religion is the enemy of progress, while atheism welcomes it with open arms.

Any spiritual search is about finding fulfillment and happiness. Athiesm allows me to find that fulfillment in the here and now. It allows me to love and experience love without the confines and predjudices that accompany religious involvement.

All the atheists I've ever met weren't atheists because they wanted to escape regulations. They were atheists because they couldn't square their rational minds with irrational beliefs.

Also, you might want to be sure that you're definition of an atheist is correct. An atheist is someone who doesn't believe in any god whatsoever, not someone who disbelieves just the christian god. When I once told someone I was pagan, they accused me of being an atheist because I didn't believe in the christian god. Wrong-o!

Atheism literally offers everything. Nothing is hidden -- you can read anything, learn anything, understand anything that your mind can grasp. There are no mysteries and nobody will tell you "you just gotta believe," expecting you to accept this as a reasonable reponse to any question.
