I have to keep her tied up since she keeps going over to him. The thing is I don't think he can reach her, but I don't want to take the chance. How long should I keep her away from him and tied up. She gets all excited and as soon as I let her loose she runs over to him. The funny thing is the pitbull's like 8 times her size. I think she just started going to him yesterday.

When her heat swelling goes down he should lose interest. Next, please keep them far apart for now as he could kill her trying to mate! An old friend had a bulldog that killed a young rottie that way... :-( You should probably get one or both fixed to avoid this problem in the future too... Good luck!!!

KEEP HER AWAY FROM HIM FOR 3 WEEKS! Take no chances that he will breed her or it will kill her. Have the male fixed or her fixed or both.
