If you are sitting up right you are going to be projectiled into the seat infront of you or the ceiling above. You are more likely to break your neck sitting up since the force of impact sitting like that would snap your neck. Think about a car crash, same principle. Putting your head between your knees, if you can, minimizes your movement on impact. You are restrained, so your body wont go flying forward and by bending over you are protecting your neck and frame from being shoved into the seat infront of you.

yes it will break your neck and that is the whole point in why they tell you to do it so you dont suffer for long once the plane has crashed!!! the pressure on your hands will push the back of your neck down and will break it!!!

certain, you're genuine : on your tips... at present the FAA and the CAA have replaced their classes for the "crash position" from sticking you head between your knees to a diverse sitting position. this isn't so that you're extra probably to live to inform the tale... no, that is so as that there is extra likelyhood of your the teeth surviving intact! they have stumbled on that with the classic approach, a tremendous kind of the crash victims had damaged jaw bones, so it changed into demanding for them to make dental identity. rather major if there turned right into a hearth.

If the plane crashes , what ever position you are in , your are dead my friend.
This position you described may help if the plane over runs the landing strip, on landing

so you won't smash your face into the seat back infront of you...THAT would break your neck.
but you can also just cross your arms infront of your face on the seat back and brace your face against them...a lot of people are too large or tall to put their head between their knees.

because its supports your neck enough so it wouldn't break your neck and scense your knee supports it, it will hold your neck as long as possible.
