Maybe your only seeing one side of the Police Officers. For example when a Police Car passes you at a high rate of speed with just his warning lights on or no lights or siren at all. He's probably going to a call like a burglary in progress or maybe a prowler. This way the bad guy cant here you coming, but we still need to get there quick. So stop bitching and hope its not you that needs help or maybe well just take our time.
Also when you start having to go and stand face to face every night with an A$$HOLE on PCP or maybe a typical drunk at a bar and fight until you can get the cuffs on. You might want some professional courtesy from your others boys in blue as well. We take care of each other......get over it.

actually most police have a small black and blue sticker on thier bumper or car window ( not a shield) that shows they are a police officer ( or retired police officer) And some familymembers use them also.
The stickers are too commom and often copied for people donating money to a charity.
PBA is a union of sorts, that offers legal protection for the police officer and also a retirement plan, it is a great group and ever officer should belong. I am still a member myself.
While police are to obey the law off duty, and on duty, police officers also have the option to ticket or to warn, it is normally always thier choice and not illegal not to ticket. not fair, but not illegal it happens in all states.

All cops are like that! I live in Ontario and they are horrible here! URGH it's so annoying!! There especially bad in Toronto. Speeding and taking over on the highway, and they don't even have the sirens on so obviously there just taking advantage of there badge. The worst I've seen yet though are in West Virginia Route 19!!!! They are on a speed crack down, yet they speed themselves. Hit 19 and everyone goes like 5 below the speed limit.

I heard of an "understood" requirement that drivers have a $50 bill paper-clipped to their license if pulled over in Chicago...but that's daly Democrat Political Machine country...I always thought Jersey was for dumping bodies so as not to litter up New York!

Poor recruitment process and lack of self discipline among police (foolish) officers. Report any such incident to the police commissioner or his deputy. If no action comes, relocate into another state, where cops act the proper way. What set of rules of law they will enforce, if they are the one violating it.

A place like New Jersey would need some discipline to shape up their police officers.

It's not just New Jersey. Actually, it's more of a psychological thing with anyone given a position of authority. Power corrupts (period)
