We had a cat for a few years and now we just got another cat, but the "old" cat hates the new cat. Is there any way to make them get along?

lock them in different rooms for a few days
cats are very territorial, once they both know what's their own room, they'll be curious to meet (even though it may not sound like it to you at first)

Cats aren't like dogs, dogs will sniff each other and start playing where cats have to get to know the other cat. I just recently got a new kitten and I have a 7year old cat. The cat hated the kitten, give them lots of time and eventually they will be fine. Mine are getting better its just a long slow process.
Good luck!

sure they could get alongside, see you later as you authentic introduce them to at least one yet another. Have the cats crated once you first carry them into the living house with the canines. enable your canines to smell, scent, even bark (in spite of the indisputable fact that he likely received't) to his hearts content so he can get the scents of those cats. The older, lazy one is likely secure. considering terriers like to chase issues (cats, specially), you may have somewhat "p.c.-way" happening there including your canines chasing the more youthful cat. yet, see you later as he's conscious that they belong there (and this is going to make an effort), there's an effective probability that they are purely taking area in, and the cat may be the instigator of the chases by technique of annoying the canines. you could ought to computer screen them carefully for a week or so, yet they should be okay together. My son has 2 canines and a million cat and that all of them get alongside purely fantastic.

Give them time. When I brought another cat home my female went crazy! I had to seperate them while I was at work. Eventually she fell in love with him. It helps if the new one is a kitten.
Good Luck

Show them equal amounts of attention. Cats are jealous creatures. Don't be too attentive to one over the other. In time they will bond. Cats usually do.

Just kinda let them duke it out for a while. If the fighting persists, use a spray bottle with water and spray whoever starts a fight. Eventually they should learn to live with eachother, just keep an eye on them.

Give them time. Eventually they'll figure out who is dominant and all will be okay in their world.
