It is customary for bridesmaids to dance once with the groomsman they walked with. You also stand next to him in some pictures and sometimes sit next to him for dinner. It's not a big deal, not a date or anything. Although sometimes attendants hook up at weddings. Two did at my wedding, very romantic, I wish it lasted.

I have stood up in a wedding. I didn't dance with my partner. He was married and so am I. It really depends on the reception and how structured the bride and groom have it. I would say dance with who you want. Ask the bride. She will tell you.

You only have to dance with that person if they have a wedding party dance then you do. It is up to the bride and goom whether they choose to have that kind of dance. We did but it was the YMCA song and we all put on funny hats and jumped around so it wasn't a close dance or anything. Have fun it is only one dance if you have to do it at all not to mention its about the bride and groom not you:)

I was a bridesmaid at my sister's wedding. I don't remember dancing with a groomsman, although I was probably escorted into the reception room by one.

I don't think it will hurt you to have one dance with your groomsman, if that's the tradition where you live.

You might have one dance and that's about it. Ask the bride to be if that's what she's planning.
