We have twin 13-year-old boys. So let me answer your question with another question. What? You are looking forward to a BREAK from being--
1. The arbiter of all disputes, large and small?
2. Chief Logistics Officer On Duty? (Kid 1 to Friend A's house in time to pick up Kid 2 from Practice B in time to double back for Appointment C and Emergency Shopping Trip D... then lunch, followed by...)
3. Boredom Repair Technician.
4. Relationship Psychoanalyst and Consultant. (not enough space here to even get started on this one)
5. Media Judge and Gatekeeper.
6. Self-Esteem Coach
7. Bus Driver, Laundry Staff, Budget Director, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Default Friend of Pets and Sexy Spouse (ok, you aspire to that daily, all year around).
And I'm her husband. Just think if she had time to reply to your question!

I only have 2 and I'm tired LOL. I try to keep them as busy as possible during the day so that I can have more early nights. Being outside and active all day really tires them out. LOL My oldest will be in school full time in September, then I will only have my 3 year old at home full time. For a year anyhow, then I will be working again, and I am sooooo looking forward to that. I need my sanity back. Mind you I wouldn't trade my cuties for anything in the world.

Girl HELL NO. I have three kids and pregnant with my forth. I love my children, but I miss school so much. I still make my kids take two hours out a day to learn. Reading and math getting them ready for the next school year, but kids can take a lot out of you. Most kids are very ACTIVE because they are bored, Have them read an hour a day, color, or watch something educational. It sounds corny but it works. When children get bored they will do anything that can just to do something. If you have older children teach them to cook my 10 year old loves that, reading a recipie book is still learning and measuring is math. Don't forget to take care time out for yourself, you can only be a good Mom if you feel good. Take Care

Not at all, sure if you enjoyed getting rid of them yeah I would think it isnt so cool but you can be excited for more reason than just getting a break from the tiresom four. For example, you are sending them off to get an education. What parent wouldnt be happy about that?

I was a teacher. By May of each year I usually felt tired. Was it wrong for me to feel excited that school was ending soon?
I don't think either of us was wrong.

of course not. You are a loving mother, and want your children to get a good education, enjoy their own independence and move out. (I have no idea how old your children are, so this may be a far of dream).
School is great for kids, they need to socialize with other kids, and be on their own. Although I am sure you have enjoyed your summer weeks with them, school will help you to regain control of your house again.
Good luck

Heck No! I mean 4 kids is a lot! I don't have any yet and when I do have them I only want 2! (one of each) Anyway, I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters and our parents are divorced. So we all lived with mom and she was lying when she said she wanted to spend time with us! She was sick of us and wanted us out of her way! She had no guilt taking us shopping for school supplies and shipping our butts off to school. And I mean I don't blame you for wanting some peace and quiet in your life! Summertime always goes slower for parents than kids! Good Luck!

You can be a very good parent and still want time to take care of your own needs. Your children might even notice a change in you after you have had time to yourself. They might find that you're less uptight and more cheerful. They themselves might want time away from you, not because they don't love you but because they miss their friends from school.
