My cat has been running away. Well, only twice though. And, he really isn't running away.
It's really hot in our house since we only have fans and not AC so then my mom would open the door and would leave only the screen door closed. Sometimes my kitten would open the door with his paw (it's very cute =P) and then run outside. But he doesn't really run away. He would run in the backyard and sniff around or sleep under a tree.
But I'm very worried that he will run away again and maybe become more intrested of the outside and perhaps run away forever and jump over our fence. Our nieghboors also let their cats run outside whereever they want so i'm worried that when Sammy (our kitten) is outside, our neighboors cats will be outside too and Sammymight want to follow them and maybe run away.

Sammy has been doing this twice but I'm worried that he'll do it more and soon maybe even run away. So what should I do? We have to keep the screen door but Sammy would open it...will add more dt

...and he'll run away forever. I'm not sure what I should do. Please DO NOT post, "Then get an AC!" We're gonna get it but not soon because we're kind of running out of money for now and my mom is very busy.

And also for anyone who didn't answer yet:

I don't think we're gonna get a lock yet. Well, we have one but my mom broke it...I don't know how.

And it isn't my cat who's getting hot, it's my family.

3) Don't suggest for us to bring him outside because he's an indoor cat, not an outdoor.

Can you try latching the screen door with something? My cat climb on the screens and cries when she wants to go out. She used to be an outisde cat but now has to be inside because someone took her to the pound. We dont have AC either and it is in the high 90s. Cats are good at cooling themselves down. Most likely your cat is interested in playing outside rather than cooling off.

Make sure Sammy has lots of fresh cold water and toys to play with. You could also try to put a fan in front of the door, mine doesnt like the noise. It might be hard but try to do what you can to keep Sammy from opening that door.

Good Luck!

Show him the way to get back into the house, and accompany him on his first few trips outside. Leave some water in a bowl for him outside too.

Your cat will become comfortable with your yard, and will want to come back home. When he's the right age (I think that's about a year old), get him neutered, because a tomcat will wander off no matter how well he's treated at home.

He probably won't run away. Cats like to come home to where they know someone is waiting with a soft lap, water, and food. You should get him neutered as soon as he's old enough. Male cats will go away sometimes when they get older. If he's neutered, there's less of a chance of that, he'll not get in too many fights, and won't spray things to mark his territory. As long as you have food and water in the house for him, he'll keep coming home.

Don't worry, your cat won't run away unless he is being mistreated at home. Cat's love to explore their surroundings especially if it is new to them. I have two cats and they love to go outdoors for hours at a time. They might disappear all day long but at the end, they come back.

get a hook lock, they make some where you can lock the screen door and your kitten can't open it!(we have this, my cat was an escape artist and now he can't open the door to get out anymore.)

i think cats are safer indoors, give him a good window view with toys and secure the screen door so he can not get out

well your cat is hot and it is cooler out side and you have to remember this we can go take a shower or bath but a cat has his or her fir and cant take it off so they like to lay where it is cool to them try taking a bath cloth and get it wet and wipe your cat down sure they dont like it right then but they will lick off the water and they will cool down to a point.
