the trick is to not season with salt or meats having high sodium content. also, beef, pork, frozen dinners, canned vegetables unless sodium free, liver, hot dogs, fried food, soups, chips, pickles, olives, canned stews and dumplings, packed rice or pasta products from liptons, white bread, and chinese food are just a few to stay away from!

No. There aren't. There's no such thing as 'normal' or 'abnormal' blood pressure. Everybody's diff'rent. It's like how long your nose is, or how blonde or black your hair is. -It's just how you are. So no food(s), specific or otherwise can change it. If there weren't doctors , would you ask "is my hair too auburn Doctor?". -of course not. Use the rule of thumb that your systolic pressure (the high one) shoud be roughly "100 + your age", plus or minus about 10. The salt thing is b******t, - use as much as you like. The normal body has 32 different mechanisms of controlling, excreting, dissolving, absorbing, or using it and actually NEEDS it. If you don't take in enough then organs will react and possibly suffer. If you doubt me, measure your B/P's. Use a monitor. They're quite inexpensive. Keep a record and see how the figures vary over the hours, days, weeks, and months. See whether salt, celery, garlic, or any other foods make the slightest difference that you can detect. I bet you $1000 you won't be able to see any measurable effect. And your Doctor hasn't any "magic power" that you don't have, that makes his opinion more trustworthy than your own observations.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

In Jamaica we use coconut water (the actual juice from a young coconut NOT the cream or milk from the mature flesh) and lime juice. But you have to be very careful because it is very effective and can make your blood pressure go too low. Just 8 ounces of coconut water with a tsp of lime juice added can make a whopping difference in blood pressure levels.

Dark chocolate -- but not white chocolate - may help reduce blood pressure and boost the body's ability to metabolize sugar from food, according to the results of a small study.

All fruits/veggies/water - home cooking. This is what helped me go from 140/90 to 120/80 in about 6 weeks. Also helped reduce inflammation in my hip.

The first step is to reduce salt in the diet. Dont salt foods either while cooking or at the table. Avoid canned foods, as they are already salted. Avoid chips, cured meats. Add fruits and vegetables, whole grains and drink lots of water. Also reduce caffeine.
