Does Israel always look to make extra enemies in every conflict or are they just stupid?
Why the heck is the US sending ANY money to people responding this way? Wasn't Lebanon doing a great job of improving their relations and political structure without this sort of "help?" Why couldn't Israel cooperate with Lebanon to root out the terrorists?

Actually, tburley2003, I am the decendant of a long line of famous American generals spanning back to the Revolutionary War. I'm just curious if people know the difference between strategic mastery and incompetence. Would Sun Tzu be rolling in his grave or doing high fives over Israel's response to the Hezbollah attacks? So far I'm not seeing an informed answer, yet useful information for conclusive judging has been available for over 2 millenia. What's up with that? Why don't people know any better?

Fascinating excuses mulligan's 1st mate, but not the acme of military strategic reasoning. Perhaps you could murder 1 million people and not get a bat of an eye, but "accidentally" kill one person people care about (that might otherwise be neutral at this point - such as American college students or peace workers or say whoever might be the equivalent of a Lebanese MLK) and you run the risk of enraging a nation. Somehow Lebanon is safe for US students, but too dangerous for Israeli military cooperation with the Lebanese government to root out terrorists?
Additionally, what part of "soldiers signed up for dangerous, potentially lethal work and civilians did not" do you not understand? Maybe I can explain it to you if you still are capable of learning. Perhaps if they were students their lives would not have mattered so much to generate such a knee-jerk response?

My sky is blood red and burning.
I know that from my study of Sun Tzu that the terrorist strategy INTENDS for Israel to stupidly attack civilian targets, thus spawning more support for their cause - as has been the case of ANY guerilla strategy. Perhaps Israel would LIKE for the Lebanese Christians to side with Hezbollah? Is that their brilliant strategy? How did I ever miss it? I feel like such a fool. I should have known that was their plan for victory all along!

I care not for either Israel (a witless waste of taxpayer money) or Hezbollah (violent fascists of another color). I'd rather they wiped each other out of existence as much as one side or another won. My side is on that of the Lebanese neutral parties that hate both sides for destroying their peace. Apparently the life and safety of middle eastern Christians and secularists do not matter to some of you.
