this guy recently broke up with his gf of 3 years. i heard that they were still talking, but he seemed interested in me. we hung out with friends, he put his arms around me, and even took me out for a date once. one night, we kissed after hanging out with some friends...a week later, he went to the beach and his ex girlfriend was there. they came back and were back together. what happened? he really seemed to like me? was he just using me to get over his ex?

He may have been. Or maybe he just needed to get away from her to see if he really cared about her. And that's probably what happened.

No one ever really realizes what a good thing they've had until they've lost it.

He probably wasn't really over her in the first place even though he might have thought he was. Perhaps he did like you but - sad to say - when the chance to get back with his ex came up, he just preferred that option...

He should have stayed away from other girls if he didn't think he was really over his ex but... sadly not everyone is that high minded! So you got caught up in his little drama. Sorry to hear it hon, forget him and keep an eye out for someone nice who will be all yours ;)

He has a history there. She knows how to get to him and push his buttons. So, he probably liked you but since he has been with her longer he has stronger feelings for her.

Forget him. Also, in the future, try not to date people just out of relationships. You never want to be the rebound girl.

You're right. He probably did like you, but was just using you to make his ex jealous and make her come back to him. The sad, hard, truth but there it is. Men are jerks like that. Move on and find someone with no strings attached or baggage. You deserve better than that.

Not necesarilly. Surely he still love her, and try and have some fun hanging out and dating. But I guess he realized that won't work so he seized the chance when he found her and got back. Story of my life.

I had this happen to me once.... Basically all the guy wants is to have some company all while he is making his ex super jealous and then when she starts to wonder "what happened with us?? I think I still love him!" He is there and BOOM they get back together and its like "YOUR NAME HERE" who? He was never over her to begin with.

Sounds like rebound to me. He obviously had more feelings for his ex and didn't want to let her go. It's a good thing you found out about it now rather than after you invested to and emotions. Count your blessings!

you can't compete with a recent long-term relationship break-up. Maybe he really did like you. Maybe he didn't think they would get back together. But he liked her better (or had more of a relationship already established with her). Move on.

You were the rebound chick. He was occupying his time with you until he was able to get back w/his girlfriend. Chalk it up as a lesson learned and move on.

He was seeing if the grass was greener.... he never left her in his mind. It was kind of like, 'What would it be like if I were single'
Well he found out what it was like and wanted to get back on the other side of the street.
