I myself drive an economical car. What humors me is those people that drive SUV's by themselves and you hear them complaining. I simply tell them to drive a smaller car and maybe people would actually listen to their complaining. They don't like that, but it's the truth and the truth hurts. What do you think?

People who complain complain about everything. I have made a choice not to listen to people who complain or engage in any kind of debate with them. Yes, I may appear to be listening, but it's just because I don't want to be rude. I don't tell them anything. Why should I? It's a free country. If they want to buy an inefficient vehicle and complain about the price of fuel, it's up to them. If they have no audience, they won't complain. If I choose not to be their audience, I am better off. A couple of things come to mind. First, it's not SUVs that are the problem It's inefficient cars. Singling out SUVs is narrow-minded. My old LTD that I got rid of last year got 12 miles per gallon, considerably less than many SUVs. Where was the outcry over my car and the hundreds ouf thousands of similar ones? There was none. Second, fuel is not too expensive. Proportional to wages, it hasn't changed that much since the 60s. A person's cost of living is a function of the sum of their personal choices in life. Buy a big vehicle, a big house, choose a job with a long commute, make expensive choices when there's inexpensive alternatives, cheat on your spouse and end up paying alimony and child support, drink like a fish and pay thousands of dollars in DUI fines, drive like an idiot and take it up the butt for insurance and traffic tickets, all of it adds up. I will not listen to complaints or offer advice to people who constantly and knowingly make poor decisions and complain about the consequences. In fact, I don't give advice to anyone who does not ask. If you're wondering, I drive a Neon that gets about 28-30 mpg, I go a week on a tank of gas, and my commute is 50 miles a day. I am very happy with all of it.

If I see a lot of SUVs on the road, that tells me that gas prices really can't be too high. When the prices get really high, the proportion of small cars goes up sharply. Look at Europe, where taxes on gasoline are about 10 times what they are here, and the price of gas is more than double what it is here. All you see there are small four cylinder manual transmission cars. Not too many SUVs. Not even too many full size cars.

If you drive an SUV, you have already made a decision that you are going to be buying a lot of gas. So I think I agree that you shouldn't complain about the price. In fact, I don't think any Americans have much reason to complain about the price of gas. The price needs to go up much higher. That is the only thing that will cause us to change our wasteful habits.

An SUV is a very reliable, and safer than mostl vehicles. The 4WD feature gives it extra maneuverability over most types of terrain. In the event of floods or heavy rains, they will be the last to stop on the roads, and certain models will actually float if the water gets too high. The desire to complain has nothing to do with the type of vehicle you drive. It has more to do with having an issue of concern to share with friends, family or co-workers. I am sure that when they bought their SUV's the prices were reasonable. The SUV drivers did not make political decisions that drove up the prices of oil.

The great thing about this country is everyone has a right to complain. You may not know the reason they are driving that big SUV. Sure at that moment you probably see a single driver in there but they could've just dropped their 3 kids off at school. I know a lot of people that have SUV's to fit their lives. They like to go camping with their family and it's a lot easier to fit their family and all the camping gear in a SUV than it is a honda civic.

See it is the version in our society with at the moment starting to be gasoline. human beings do not see alternatives to wide autos. Like those putting forward "I actual have 3 youthful toddlers and canines so i pick a huge suburban to slot each and every individual". incorrect incorrect...you received't be in a position to get a small or compact motor vehicle yet there are a great number of 30+ mpg SUV's and wagons that could better than accomodate you. maximum of those human beings clone of the luxury and the feeling of sitting extreme up. Then for sure you experience like you could't have a huge truck/SUV with out 5.0-6.0L V8. i love listening to that unmarried guy that complains about the 12 liters of oil for his oil change and the 70 gallon gasoline tank in his quad cab truck that receives 15 mpg on the higway. I actual have a Jeep and it became astounding to be larger up yet gasoline became poor. I then offered a smaller motor vehicle and purely keep the Jeep as a purely in case. It scares me to demise tocontinual SUV's now! dealing with, braking, acceleration, and gasoline monetary equipment are all poor. do not even element out the safe practices of the large autos becuase if human beings didn'tcontinual those wide issues then your everyday motor vehicle may be purely as secure. doesn't remember if a Semi hits you in a 5000 lbs truck or a 2 seater. purely the pickup vs motor vehicle.

whats really funny is that some people actually think that reducing demand for fuel will reduce the price of fuel. seriously, get a grip folks. Those people who drive big huge vehicles have even more right to complain than those who drive some hybrid or something. If you drive that hybrid, why should you care? It doesn't make as big of a difference to you.

BTW, I drive a little Corola that still gets 30+ mpg

No, I don't, EVERY ONE has the RIGHT to complain about what ever is "bugging" them at that moment. By driving my brand new Toyota FJ Cruiser, I TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for my gas bill. AND I am 'humoured' by all of you in your economical little cars. I call you "speed bumps"

Where I live, it is impractical, VERY impracticable for me to drive a tiny economical vehicle. Especially in the winter, which we have for 4-6 months. I value my family's life more than I do your whining about gas consumption.

What are YOU doing for fuel cell research and making THEM available??? It is FUEL cell technology that will bring us into the 21st century. AND do you argue against drilling in the ANWR? If so, why? Oooops, I should have put that in the Questions section. Those that complain the MOST about "gas guzzlers" are the FIRST to object to new drilling and the building of new refineries. By drilling in new areas, PROVEN to have oil, on US soil (no pun intended) we could wean ourselves off of the Mid East and Communist countries like Venezuela for oil. And THAT'S the TRUTH!

Have a NICE DAY! :D

Nope.

Thats like saying everyone with a home bigger than a one room apartment should lose the right to complain about the price of natural gas!

Or everyone with a pet bigger than a frog should lose the right to complain about neighbors pets pooping in thier yards.

No, I don't have a gas guzzler, but if I wanted one, thats my choice as it is everyones choice.

In my mind, definately. They made their choice in vehicles, so tough crap for them.

If you actually need a truck (you're a construction worker, etc), then that's different, but if you're like this one girl that works here that drives a H2 to work (an office building in a suburban environment) every day, the hell with you. You bought it knowing it's milage. Tough.
