It seems like they love my brother more than me. They're always going to his games, they show up while he's at work, they make him lunch everyday, they always invite him along to the movies with them. And I feel like I'm getting kicked to the curb. It's like, just because my brother is retarded, they give him more attention than me. But I don't think it's fair because he's gonna live with them forever and I'm going to be moving out as soon as I'm done with college. They'll have all the time in the world with him. I feel like I'm being ignored by my parents just because I don't have the mind of a 5 year old.

Is there something I can do to get them to love me more? I'm gonna be more valuable to them when they're dying, shouldn't they respect that and cater more to ME than my waterhead bro?

They probably love you just as much, they just show it differently. Maybe they're trying to show that they love you by letting you be independent, and maybe they think that you know that they love you just as much.

Well they obviously do love him more than you. You should feel pretty shitty that you cant even be loved as much as a retard. God didn't even love him that much "hence, retardedness" you must be really boring. Or, are you ugly? Gay? Retarded is definitely a step above gay or ugly. Anyways, you should try being a comedian. They are some of the ugliest and sometimes gayest, but they get attention by being on a stage acknowledging how much they are different. I bet your parents would pay attention to you if you make millions as a ugly gay comedian. And then you can say "you made your retarded choice"
Good Luck

I am a Developmental Services Worker and I work with people who have Intellectual Disabilities (never say retarded). Is it possible that you may have called you brother 'retarded' in front of him or talked about hime using those terms. Parents become VERY protective of their children, especially ones who may have a disability. It doesn't mean they love him more, but the obviously know that you are able to entertain yourself without assistance from Mom and Dad. If you respect your brother and talk highly about him to your parents and talk nicely to him, your parents may appreciate your sensitivity! I wish you the best of luck!

Hi, I work with RETARD (Retards Eating Toothpaste And Recycling Donut boxes), and I know what your problem might be. First of all, never call them mentally disabled, it's a terrible rumor being spread, but it's best to call them what they are. Anything else will give them false hope. Second, he'll pretty much eat anything you put on his high chair, so slip him some rat poison and you'll kill two birds with one stone. You'll put the poor kid out of his misery, and your parents will be forced to use their attention more productively. Good luck!

Your parents do love you, they have a RETARDED child, sure they are going to pay more attention to him. Get over the jealousy and get on with your life. I was just like you, but after I grew up I learned better. Your brother will always need special attention. Do you want to trade places with him? No you don't, so please man, for me, be a little more understanding.

if ur brother is really mentally disabled then try and put yourself into his shoes. his life will never be the same as anyone else his age, he will probably have trouble making friends, and maybe your parents are the only friends he has. don't take it personally that they spend more time with him, i'm sure they love you just as much but they assume that you know that and they don't have to prove that to you whearas your brother may need a constant reminder that they care for him and will always be there to support him.

i hope that helps you!

Stay away from them and act like you can't stand them but then when 2-3 weeks past ask one of your parents to take you to the storeand then in the car ride there communicate and tell her/him anything you like and see what happens

I think your parents do love you, but they give extra attention to your brother because he's ill. You have to understand that he's like a child so they have to treat him like one. If u wanna get your parent's attention so bad, yeah do something that'll impress them .

I thin that you need to have a serious talk with your parents about how you're feeling. I'm sure they love both of you equally...
