its sounds like one of your three coils or wires are bad. is the check engine light on? that might help diognois. i am a toyota tech and we are starting to see those coils go bad. there about $130 + labor. should not be more than an hour and a half.

I had that happen on a Chevrolet Caprice and on my Toyota truck and both times it was from a bubble on one of the tires. Got a new tire, shaking stopped.

Since it's an intermitant problem, good start is to check for:
Hairline cracks in your distributor cap. Good idea to check to the plug wires (intermitantly arching) as well.
Remove the cap, turn it upside donw to check the cap and to see the cracks easier, if any.

sounds like 2 different problems. one could be a bad throttle body wich can make the car run bad and it also sounds like the tires may be out of alignment or balance.

the car may need a tune up to run smoothly. the vibration may also be caused by worn motor mounts. its hard to say without being there to see it myself.
