It's always hard, but how hard it is depends on the person, their age, and the language. Some people just have an aptitude, or predisposition for picking up languages. Younger people in general pick it up faster. And some languages are just way harder than others.

English is very hard. I'm bilingual Spanish, and Spanish is one of, if not the easiest language out there. English is my first language, and I still think it's hard. English is even hard for people who only speak english.

So if you have friends who are learning english, and struggling, you can let them take heart in that it's a really tall order. And that's just the normal english, not all the slang and the idioms. Keep at it, though. It's worth it.

As a languages teacher, I say that English is one of the easiests languages in the world, for instance, it is the second spoken language world wide.
If you speak English you can go wherever you want, because English is spoken everywhere. Gramatically, English is much easier than Portuguese for example.
In Portuguese there are THOUSANDS of verb tenses, in English there are only THREE (present, past and future) of course that there are the subdivisons (present continuous, past simple) but even though, it is easier.
The problems English teachers have teaching English as a foreigner language are: the vocabulary (for instance the verb GET has MILIONS of meanings), the slangs (mainly in American English) and the listening (British English cause they speak very strongly and American speak very fast).
To make it shorter, English is easy.
But when talking about learning a new language it really depends on the person. One person is different from the other so what is very easy for me can be very hard for you.
There are different learning styles so it really depends on the person.

it's tough. when my dad told me that we're going to move to the USA the first thing I did was learning English so that I wouldn't be embarrassed or uncomfortable there. I started when I was 14 and now I'm 16, we didn't go to the US though but I'm happy that I speak and understand English now.
now I'm preparing for the SAT and the TOEFL exams so that I could attend college there next year.
it's all about determination.
I have met some people that lived in the US for more than 10 years and they still don't know a word in English. I wonder how they could live like that.
you're a smart person ..... good luck with your school

It depends what language. English is one of the easiest in terms of learning it and speaking it. Except for the whacked up grammar and structural issues, English is overall one of the easiest languages to learn. I had the same problem, though it happened up to when I was in the first half of the first grade. But now, I think I speak better than most United States Americans.

Mandarin Chinese and English are my first languages. I'm learning Spanish and Japanese. Spanish is easy, too. Japanese is easy to speak but not easy to write.

You must be a very smart person and fast learner. English is one of the hardest languages to learn. I always thought that it would be hard to learn a new language. Perhaps since you were thrown into an environment where you were surrounded by only English, you learned it faster.

You need to commit yourself. The most effective way to study a language is to listen to songs of the particular language you wish to learn and memorise simple phrases.

Keep a dictionary in your pocket and make you sure you have a freind to practise with.

And yes, dont skip language class.
