Hey Train,
I'm in CA and the prices for gas average about $3.09. What state are you in. We can thank the damn war for all of this. Are they about the same in your state?
Take it easy and take the train lol I think we should all take a strike too! But its not easdy if you live far from wherever you are going, But in big cities they should strike.

Gas prices are not a problem for me. I have a 4 cyl car. I live less than 2 miles from work, and less than 5 from the grocery store. It is stupid to complain when you buy big vehicles (as status symbols) and buy houses far away from where you work (as status symbols) when you could get a more modest place near by. People are so dumb! They waste so much money buying status symbols to show off wealth that they never actually become wealthy. Aside from that if you are in a situation where a 2x increase in the price of gas leaves you unable to pay your bills you need to figure out how you are wasting you money and stop it!

the State of Washington is looking at a new way to tax people because of gas. The state gas taxes have been down because people have been driving less, using smaller cars etc..just what the govt tells us all to do. WA is looking at having GPS in EVERY car and then billing you every month based on how far you drove. You could have a prius and pay more than someone with a Hummer. Just cant get away from taxes.

I drive 8o miles round trip a day 5x wk. I feel the pain at the pump also. That ignorant idea about taxing the number of miles is just another insane idea that if murphy works his thing would pass. I bought a buell and get 65 mpg down the interstate so It saves me some. O yea I drive a Chevy Aveo for the miserly 35mpg too.

I have a solution to your problem. If you can't afford to pay for gas, then try buying a car that gets good gas-mileage. In Denmark, gas is almost $20 a gallon. On purpose. You know why? So that everyone would own a hybrid. And it worked.

Gas prices do not seem to stopping folks from driving, there seems to be tons of cars on the highway including the huge gas guzzling RVs. I try not to drive too much, I am doing my best to not waste gas, are you? And to gymchick---why are you driving a suburban instead of a smaller vehicle---do you really need a carTHAT big?

Maybe its time to put aside all the liberal tree huggers and drill for the oil we have right here in the USA.
Oil companies make mush less profit then Microsoft, yahoo, and most big for profit companies. I hope you are not against an American company making an 8% profit, whats the profit margin where you work?

We're used to it in the UK - roughly figuring out conversions its equivalent of nearly $7 a gallon here.

We have our respective governments shoring up of greedy oil companies, refusal to support alternative fuels and warmongering in the Middle East to thank for it...

Me, I've got rid of my car and go everywhere by bike - our fuel prices are mainly tax and the the less I give of THAT to the government the better..!

Everytime I think about buying a bigger car (I have a '99 Metro right now) the cost of gas jumps up. I think we're paying for Bushie's re-election - he has to pay off the oil companies somehow.

I think record prices lead to record oil profits. We should try to conserve more, but making us go broke paying for gas isn't the way.
