Bush is NOT Jesus, he is a Human Being like you and me, and the bible is wrong in this case, let me ask you, if you or your loved ones where living in fear of torchure, death, or inprisonment from a ruler that at the drop of a hat could just wisk your kids or husband away and you would never see them or know what happened to them or talk to ANYONE about it. Would you want someone or some country to know this and sit Idly by without lifting a finger to help you or your future generations? Would you want that country to turn a blind eye to your problems becasue at one time that country supported your goverment? would that make you happy? or would you wont that country to step in and do its best to stop the evil doings of your ruler at the expence of some innocents. Its called the GREATEST GOOD FOR THE GREATEST NUMBER OF PEOPLE!
That is the way the world works and how humans are.
havent you ever had a friend, someone you thought was your best friend and they did something that hurt you so you stopped being there friend?
you had no idea they were that evil when you met and knew them, but they eventually showed their true colors at which you stopped being friends, you live you learn, that is how it is here, we NOW KNOW!

Yes it is a point that I bring time and time again to my friends who are diehard Bush and Republican loyalists. For some reason I only get blank stares back. They cannot fathom, or refuse to admit the dichotomy between Bush's and conservative's avowed Christian beliefs, and the retaliatory and preemptive violence that they promote that is in direct contradiction to Jesus' teachings.

Of course, if they see any inconsistency on the liberal spectrum of things, no matter how minute, they will beat that point to death. I am never reminded of Christ's words more vividly than when I talk to a Christian Republican : "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye" (Matthew 7:3)

Being struck on the cheek in biblical times was an insult, not a life-threatening attack. Deadly attacks are another matter entirely--if someone broke into your home with intent to kill you and rape your children, I would certainly hope you'd do something about it, rather than "turning the other cheek." And for the "eye for an eye" that another answer quoted--that was put there in order to LIMIT the amount of vengeance that could be taken, not to command people to do it. Take charge and learn the real context for yourself instead of parroting the glib phrases and insipid complaints you've been fed.

Bush is President of the United States and was acting as such when a joint decision to go to war was made by a majority of all our leaders. It is the duty of the government of the USA to provide for the common defense.. Good thing others in the past had the same conscience or things wouldn't be as good around here as they are. Would it be Japanese or German spoken here, what do you think?

They never struck us. Bush is like any other politician, he will tell people what they want to hear. By 'people' I mean the majority of registered voters. If gay people were the majority of voters they would have Dick Chaney's daughter up front and center, on every vistit to everywhere, and probably give her a top job right in the public eye. People are so easily manipulated.

I believe there is a difference between a person slapping you and believing that your whole country could be at risk of being bombed. I do believe Bush believed there were weapons of mass destruction and I believe they could have been moved to Syria or somewhere else since Sadaam never provided proof he destroyed them. His stance on gay marriage and other issues proves to me that he has family values, but you can hate him if you want it is a free country. As long as you do not cross the ACLU

If someone strikes you then....YES turn the other cheek. But if someone is threatening to kill your family, change the way you live, and take away your freedom? Are you going to just turn the other cheek like a coward? Or will you fight like a man to defend your family and friends freedom?

Iraq isn't our enemy, Bush is. He does anything for political and personal gain and he sure as hell is not a Christian man.

Well since Iraq had no part or link to 9/11 the analogy makes no sense. Most of the hijackers were Saudi citizens.
