Why do muslims even want that site when Mohammed never even stepped foot into Jerusalem?
The only reason the Dome of the Rock has any significance is because a Muslim leader hundreds of years after Mohammed decided that Jerusalem was the Holy City that Mohammed mentioned in a dream.
Until that time, it didn't have that significance. The Muslim leader just wanted to give his followers a bloodthirsty motive to attack the Jews.

well, since we're not allowed on the land where the temple stood (according to many jewish authorities) until the messiah arrives, I assume G-d allows the arabs to sit there so that no jews trespass that area. Quite clever, actually.
But what I'm curious about is why some muslims are fighting so hard for land that I don't think is even mentioned in their scriptures.
on the side: how exactly are israelis "occupying" land that was given to them democratically by the UN (who got it from the brittish who got it from the ottoman empire)?
