Thank you all for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal here, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.
a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

a) do not smite them, tell them to turn the other cheek
b) it is difficult to determine a fair market price, especially if she is a virgin. I suggest auctioning her off. Be sure to include photos so the buyers know exactly what they're buying.
c) to tell if a woman is unclean, simply say - Hello, you look nice today. If she smiles and is kind, she is clean. If she bites your head off, gives you a dirty look, and tells you to go to hell, she is unclean.

Sorry it took me so long to get to this... I work nights and so I sleep through most of the day..... here we go with your questions:
a) Your neighbors can rest easy and not have to worry about the stench... As you probably already have heard, while you are welcome to make sacrifices, it is no longer required, since the sacrifice Jesus made on Calvary supercedes the need for burnt sacrifice. If you just enjoy burning animals, by all means, don't disturb your neighbors or violate any city or state ordinances... go out to the country and sacrifice to your heart's content.
b) Keep in mind that if you are in the U.S., selling your daughter for any amount could land you in prison where you might end up being sold for a pack of smokes and a snickers (I love their new commercials). The passage you refered to in Exodus is talking about how to treat people in a situation that had already been established by cultural allowance. The Bible was not "sanctioning" slavery, rather it was an instruction how how indentured servants are to be regarded... understanding that they were not slaves in the sense that we in the U.S. think... but they had certain rights which by law were to be respected.
c) While I am sure there are a number of ways you could get this information without directly asking, my hope is that you would not be trying to illicit that information from total strangers... perhaps it will help you to understand that these health laws were put into place long before our technological advances which make a woman's menstral cycle much less of a ... um... messy affair. Thanks to modern feminine hygiene products, the matter of uncleanness in this particular passage has been rendered moot.
Drop me a line if you have any other questions.

A) Smite them yes, in the same way the Lord would smite them.
B) I wouldn't pay more than $500 for any female slave.
C) You should have no contact with women at all.
It is so funny! So many times I've seen people quote Leviticus to condemn homosexuality, and yet disregard every other part. Here you are pointing out the other "Laws" they should be following and they are strangely (or not so strangely) silent.

I didn't realize any one could be such a dumb a**. The Laws applied to the Jews of that period in history. That Covenant has been replaced by a New Covenant. People that are in tune with what God is doing now are under the Law of Grace. If you're going to mock do try to catch up with the time line.

i do not fit any of those distinct sorts precisely. i believe the Bible is inerrant. i do not "talk about" the sins of others yet instead attempt to inform others about the love and beauty of God, even as admitting my personal faults, because being a Christian does no longer mean you do not sin, it potential you do not pick to sin and also you're actual sorry in case you do. I actually position self belief in "creationism" because it truly is area of the Bible. My personal beliefs as a Christian were no longer molded by technique of absolutely everyone else. those are the evaluations i have formed in protecting with my personal journey starting to be kept... I had reached the bottom element in my existence many years in the past and felt thoroughly hopeless. In desperation, I actually cried out to God. He has replaced my heart thoroughly considering that day and my existence's purpose is all in His fingers now. Sorry for rambling. besides, i love your question!

a) perhaps instead of smiting your neighbors you could move the bull burning to a more out-of-the-way place thus not to offend anyone and still please the lord.
b) The price of your daughter depends on her age, wisdom, work-hardiness, and of course, her virginity.
c) Just don't touch any women. Safer that way.
