If they're baby back ribs, I usually rub them with a BBQ dryrub and bake them in a very slow oven... about 250 degrees for several hours. Depending on size, it could take about 5 hours (or more). I turn them over about every 45 mins to an hour but leave them alone after the third hour. When I think they're almost finished, you can then brush them with your favorite BBQ sauce. The meat will simply fall off the bone.

BBQ or smoker. Boiling ribs should be considered a crime against humanity. If you BBQ, use charcoal and cook over indirect heat. It will probably take a couple of hours to cook. Don't put sauce on them until the last 30 minutes or so, if you put it on too soon it will burn (because the sauce has a lot of sugar). For extra super ribs, use a dry rub of brown sugar, chili powder, and garlic powder - cover the ribs with it, and let them sit overnight, then brush most of it off before cooking. It takes a long time to cook good ribs, but they are definitely worth it.

I've heard this debate before (lol) I had never boiled before, then tried this recipie. I thought it was really good.

Cut racks into serving size pieces of 2 or 3 bones. Boil 20 min. in enough water to cover, with 1 T. ea. salt, cracked peppercorns, and red pepper flakes.

brush with a very thin layer of BBQ sauce and either broil or grill 5 minutes each side (no longer) Put glazed ribs into a crockpot with a whole bottle of BBQ sauce and a 12 oz. bottle of porter. (Beer with a smoky flavor) Cook on low 6 hrs. Very tender, very good.

This is the bone of contention (pun intended) in our house.
I parboil (oven or stovetop, doesnt matter), drain, put in ziplock bags with sauce and chill overnight. Then grill the next day.
My husband puts the ribs in a foil pan on the grill in a littlle beer, browns on both sides, then adds the bbq sauce to the foil pan, seals it up tight and then turns the heat down and cooks for a few hours.
Both are good.

I put a spice rub on them, and put them in a baking pan with some water. Then bake them at low heat (325 F) for about 2 to 3 hours, turning once, until tender. You need the water to keep the fat that renders out from burning.

Then slather on the BBQ sauce (Stubbs is my favorite) and bake another 30 minutes. Melt in your mouth delicious!

Using the grill is okay, but the BBQ sauce burns very easily, so watch it!
