sometimes food allergies can cause constipation. Otherwise make sure there is enough fiber in his diet and make sure he gets plenty of water. Juice is good for constipation also.

You need to figure out everything your child is eating. Is he getting enough fluid and vegetables in his diet? is he eating to much starch and processed food? how about cheese.. thats a no-no for small kids. Cut out the bread and give him cerals instead. I'm apalled at what I see kids eating sometimes. I'm not saying that you're not feeding him right but sometimes you'd be surprised at what can constipate a little kid. Sometime I would use Castoria if they had a bad problem. Sometimes they are too busy playing to go potty,, and that can cause it too. Make sure they take the time to sit on the potty for while several times a day. If none of these things work, naturally you have to see the pediatrician. Good luck to you and your little guy.

It is not normal for a 2 year old to be constantly constipated, but the reason can be as simple as lack of hydration or something he's eating / not eating. Don't be scared yet, but be cautious. The only one who can give you an answer is a Doctor, after giving the baby a physical. So take him to the doctor before you start listening to people's advise online, better safe than sorry. Hope your baby gets better.

we tried massage with our daughter who had that problem. that seemed to help the stomach aches due to constipation.

we also got some cream from the doctor to help numb the anus so that when the poop did come out, it didn't hurt so much.

we went so far as to have them do a test on her to make sure her intestines weren't twisted or something because it was happening so often. There was nothing wrong internally.

We just had to remain calm, give her stool softener and eventually she started going normally. That was when she was 6 months to 2.5 years old. She is 4 now with no problems.

Talk to your doctor, that's your best bet.

Yes. From personal experience with my daughter, take him to the doctor. She was like this too. Come to find out she was intentionally holding it in because we would tease her about being stinky. It could be that, or something as simple as he needs a change in diet to something as serious as he needs his bowels dialated.

You can give him warm juice that will help it alot and If your really concerned I would take him to the doctor.
If he eats alot of bananas or cheese things like that it will make him stopped up. But you can also give apple juice with it and it might help it some. pickle juice is supposed to be good also.
But if I was in your shoes I would be taking him to the ped. just to make sure.

my mom never believed me when I told her that my bowels moved once every 15 days, now that I am older, they only move once every 18-26 days. someone recently told me to start drinking the green tea that everyone is talking about, im here to tell you that for the past 3 months , i have had a bowel movement every other day. so i would suggest that you start your daughter on a cup a day.

Do call your ped, but in the mean time make sure you push liquids. Try prune juice. If he won't drink it straight up try mixing some prune juice in his water or OJ. Or buy some baby food prunes and mix them in some oatmeal if he won't eat them by themselves. Avoid banana's and cheeses.
