I myself do believe that Satan exsists. There has been so much evil and hatred in the world, especially now, for him NOT to exsist. The Bible teaches us that Satan's greatest accomplishment is making people think that he DOES NOT EXSIST. It even tells us that Satan can be "Transformed into an angel of light."

I don't believe in Satan and I think it's a cop out for those people who use that excuse for evil and destruction in this world. It's greedy, spiteful, horrible people that cause death and destruction in this world ... Evil is energy that comes from within a human being ... either you choose NOT to follow it, or you do and that makes you choosing it of your own free will. So, it's human beings who are evil ... not some fabled "Satan" that NO ONE has EVER seen!!

The bible also says God is all powerful. If that were true, he would not allow Satan to exist. Therefor, you can't believe in Satan if you believe in God. Your question was formed as if you wanted a logical answer. So a further conclusion would be that since you clearly believe God wrote the bible, and he said there was a Satan, neither he or Satan are all powerful. So it just goes to show that you can't believe everything you read.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satin/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about satans role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Yes, Satan exists. 1/3 of the angels in heaven fell from God's grace in rebellion, Satan was one of them. He is seen throughout the Bible, He appeared in the form of a snake in the Garden of Eden to Adam and Eve. He was "walking to and fro on the earth" when he asked God if he could test Job. He tested Jesus in the New Testament, three times. Yes, he exists today. I firmly believe the evil in this world is the work of Satan, the deceiver, and his demons.

Satan does not exist. There is no evidence to support the existence of such a personage. Evil is done by people through their own choices and motivations, and through the forces of their milieu. Catastrophres of nature occur that appear evil and take untold numbers of lives, but no Christian uses such evidence to claim that God does not exist. When Satan materializes in front of him, then I'll believe in him. Until then, I'll do the best I can to be a good person, see the good in others, forgive when it's possible, encourage others to live a wholesome life and to avoid harmful choices. But I won't dream up imaginery characters to take the blame for human failures.

I believe that Satan definitely exists because it is recorded in the Bible that God had a conversation with him in heaven and Jesus had a conversation with him on earth. They are both perfect so I don't think they were talking to themselves or some principle of evil.

I believe Satan is real, only I don't call him Satan. I call him President Bush.

Seriously, I don't believe in Satan or Hell. It was something made up to blame all bad things on and to scare people into behaving. It's not working to well.

Some people do not believe in the existence of a personal devil calling him a medieval invention designed to scare people into the church. Others imagine the devil to be dressed in a red suit complete with horns, cloven feet, and a long dragon's tail-standing in hell, tormenting folk with his pitchfork. Both these views of Satan are false. The devil is no joke, he's real and he is danger.
