My father recently passed away. I've been prescribed different medications for depression and anxiety (Lexapro, Ambien, Clonopin) but they are taken nightly and make me tired. During the day it's hard to function because of the grief I'm dealing with due to my father's sudden death. My doctor prescribed Toprol-XL to take during the day. I've read online it's for high blood pressure and heart problems...I dont' have these issues. Does anybody else take this for anxiety? Should I worry about taking heart medication for this issue if I have NO heart problems?

I take Toprol XL for high blood pressure. My doctor said she prescribe this particular med because I was experiencing a feeling that my heart was racing (sorry, don't know the technical terms). She said this med has some kind of blocker that helps reduce this.

If you're uncertain, get a second opinion. Or talk to your pharmacist. Also, my pharmacist told me not to eat anything with grapefruit in it, as it has an enzyme that changes the effectiveness of the med.

If you have severe untreated anxiety long term it can cause heart problems. High BP drugs do make you tired at first for the first few weeks/months, sounds like this is a temp measure anyway so not to worry.
I've been taking 3 of the strongest BP meds daily for 9 years and I'm really fit and strong.
I think it's a perfectly legitimate question for yahoo because some really bright people log on here and some doctors don't know their *** from their elbow.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

Any medication you are not sure about look it up. Usually if you just put the name of the med. into Google and hit search you can find out all you need to know about the medication.

You need to discuss this with your doctor or a pharmacist. This sounds a little strange.
