Ok, so in the past I was part of a martial arts style that had a lot of emphasis on a metaphysical energy called Ki (also called Qi or Chi). If you don't know about it then check out this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qi

I'm just wondering if any of you others out there think such energies exist.

Also could you tell us what your main position is on Religion (Christian, Wiccan, Jewish, Atheist, Agnostic, Muslim, Taoist, etc.). I'd just like to know this to see if there are any trends in your answers.

And one more thing, is your Kung Fu strong? :)

Look everybody, it's a question about SPIRITUALITY this time! What a friggin' refreshing change!

Anyhoo, yes it's real. IMHO it's just the force of your will, your concentration.

Religion: I'm against it if it includes theology.

I have no Kung Fu, but my Jujitsu is weak.

As a student of science and an academic, there is no solid proof to support that chi or any suh energies exsist, however, on a personal level i do belive they exsist. They are the only explanation for certain phenomenon.

I am a Muslim

I don't know Kung Fu, although i hav had a few Karate lessons

You can't see it, measure it, hear it or taste it, but yes, I think Chi is real. Mainly because you can see the results of its presence when one has some understanding of what can be done with it. I am raised Roman Catholic, steeped in Unitarian Universalism as a teenager and now something of a Wiccan Daoist. My kung fu is as strong as I can remember to make it.

I believe and physics points to the fact that we live in a universe that is, basically, all energy. Human beings are creatures of, and manufacturers of, energy. I see no reason at all to not believe that one can focus and use this energy. It has been a part of nearly all religions in one way or another as in "filled with the power of the holy spirit" and the like. It can be demonstrated in many ways as a previous poster pointed out.

my position on religion .... religion sucks in general as it is the greatest of all enemies of human spirituality.

While a student in Japan I was able to watch a number of Japanese and Korean Martial Art Masters.

There is DEFINITELY a power that they call on.
I honestly feel that if is demonic.
It certainly is not of THE GOD. There is no alternate.

I DO NOT MESS WITH ANY MARTIAL ARTS AT ALL SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE METAPHYSICAL STUFF THAT ONE MUST GET INVOLVED IN TO BE A FULL SUCCESS.

kI IS VERY REAL. iT PROTECTS YOU. YOU CONCENTRATE WITH IT.

When you try to unscrew that jar of pickles, when you carefully bring that cup o' coffee, when you try to "suck it up" after getting punched in the gut, (or if you see it coming) bracing up for the shot.

I am Muslim, alhamdullilah...
