does anyone know how many miles it does to the gallon. Is it economincal compared to a 1.8 petrol car? Also do they give any mechanical trouble I should know about before buying?

There a pile of shite and i'd keep well away from them, there a pig on petrol and guranteed to brake down... Buy yourself a discover or something if you want a jeep or elde just buy a nice car...

As a former Land Rover owner, my suggestion is avoid it like a plague. My brand new Freelander was replaced by the dealer after braking down 4 times. The new car was likewise problematic with electronic glitches all over and to make things worse, repair at the local mechanic shop can be very expensive.

good solid motors, 22-33mpg make sure it has a full service history
if you need more info buy land rover owner magazine or landrover enthusiast.
