You always have to show your Visa, and yes, they will check it.

First off, your in the U.S. already, so all you will need to show is a picture ID to verify that you are the person who's name appears on the ticket. There is no immigration or customs issue. This is an airline requirement set forth by the U.S. government.

Secondly, on the flight to Hawaii, everyone (visitors and residents of Hawaii) must fill out an agricultural form. The purpose of this form is to find out if you are bringing in any fruits, vegetables, meats or animals that may affect Hawaii's delicate Eco-system.

(A little note, because Hawaii is the most isolated islands in the world, the Eco-system here is very fragile and the introduction of unknown or dangerous species of bugs or animals into Hawaii is not only dangerous for the enviorment, it's also illegal and subject to fines and/or jail time).

The filing out of this form is mandatory and will be given to you in flight to fill out. One form per family is fine. On the back side of this form is a Hawaii visitor industry form that is voluntarily to fill out. It's just for getting an idea of who and where are visitors are coming from.

I hope this answers your questions. Have a great time in Hawaii!!

as a Non US citizen, yes, you will need to go through Customs on your way back in. If you have an expired Tourist Visa and don't have your residence Visa, you could have a problem being allowed back in unless you have documentation showing that your permanent resident visa in enroute.

If you are talking about the Hawaiian Islands, you won't be going through customs. Hawaii is a U.S. state. If you have permission to travel in the U.S., you can go to Hawaii. Hope this helps.
