I don't know if there is a law that says any specific age in any state, but If you think your child could be trusted I would look at the age of 13. I would start by leaving them alone for a short time 15 to 30 minutes, like a trip to the store. Then work on longer times. The child has to show that they can be trusted.

The only states that have laws about leaving a child home alone are Illinois and Maryland. In other states it's at the parents discretion, and being a responsible parent is knowing if your child is responsible enough to stay home alone and handle any emergency or situation that may arise. It would be an offence to leave a child alone at home if doing so put the child at risk, for example; disabled children, children who are on medication, and in most cases a child that's of a very young age and not aware of the risks and dangers of being home alone (eg: 2 years old)

By the way, alot of people are saying ages such as 16 and 18 (adult). None of that is true as there is no official laws in states except for Illinois and Maryland. I did the research and you can also find the information on your states .gov website.

Don't know the law, but I wouldn't leave a child under the age of 14 alone. Even then, it is a bit iffy as they would be a minor, have no car, and might not have the maturity to deal with a "situation".

I believe that at no age u should leave your child/children overnight anyhere. U might find me sounding overprotective but lets face reality here. Children are getting abuse from their own family members, close friends of the family also from their teachers in school. Are they safe? They are given to u to protect them from the monsters in society. Why let them down?

Eighteen. That may sound ridiculous, but that's the law. Parents are responsible for supervising a minors. If they get in trouble when the parents are not there the parents may be charged with child neglect.

Why in the world would you want to leave a child alone unsupervised anyway?

You're crazy.
