We live in a neighborhood where many people (including us) let thier cats outside. I haven't seen the bird fly and I don't think it can. Should we leave it alone? Is there a way to save it from hungry kitties? Need help fast!

If I were to keep it (which would be difficult since we have 2 cats and a dog)-how should I care for it?

Don't listen to people just shouting answers from the top of their head!

This happened many times at my house. What you should do is take the bird inside, placing it a shoebox. wear gloves.

Find the phone number of a local vet and explain the situation. They will have the number of a wildlife rescue center in your area. or you can google "wildlife rescue" and the name of the county or area you live in. Take it to a wildlife rescue. That's what they are there for.

DO NOT keep it as a pet. There's no way you can care for a wild animal properly. It will die. I made many trips to the wildlife rescue over the years with birds, mice, turtles. They always tell me that the best shot for the poor thing is to get it healthy and back in the wild. Good luck! I'm glad there are people out there like you who care!!

You shouldn't leave it alone, you should either keep it or find someone who will take care of it. If you keep it you should keep it under light and make sure to feed it chopped up corn, but don't chop it up yourself, and water it, make sure you keep it warm. And to keep it from hungry kitties, you should put it in a cage, but it should be made out of wood, and keep it up where your cat, or any cats can't reach it!

Leave it alone, its parents will be around somewhere and will still be feeding it. If it's still there in 24 hours without any parents having visited you could think about raising it yourself but its a very time consuming and energy intensive activity and the chick could still die.

I would first call your local SPCA or animal shelter and tell them the situation. Many shelters take birds in if they have no mother. Good luck!!!

first watch and see if its parents come.
if not gently place him in a small box with a fleece blanket.
feed him every 2 hours.
what to feed him?
a tortilla mix called MA-SE-CA.
TAKE THE MIX- ADD WATER- IT WILL LOOK KIND OF LIKE PANCAKE MIX. AND FEED THAT TO HIM
