The bible never says in the bible to only believe the bible. And Jesus implemented Peter as the first pope, so why don't you believe it? And how can you even dare to quote the bible when the bible was put together by the catholic church under the authority of the pope in 325a.d. at the council of nicea? How can you quote the bible, yet reject the authority that validated it!?????!!

Strange, huh?

The Bible is the protestant God. God can no longer speak to protestants. If God wanted to offer new advice, protestants would refuse to hear it. Their book is closed.

They worship a dead God.

We were protesting about the practices of the catholic church at the time. Like selling forgiveness from God by the priests. Only God can forgive us. The corruption of the church at the time was immense, a lot of popes and priests didnt practice what they preached. No sex before marriage, but they were at it like rabbits and had kids all over the place. I read a book by a priest that was the history of the popes from the very first, wish i could remember the name of it but it was a while ago. Most of them couldnt be trusted. One of them took everything from the Vatican that wasnt nailed down and sold it he then ran away, was excomunicated, then turned up twenty years or so later demanding his throne back!! Also, the catholic church changed the bible so many times that the version we all have isnt the one that was originally written. There are a number of gospels that arent included in the bible that the church omited, i wonder why? is it because they dont agree with the version we all read now.

Personally I don't believe only the Bible. I don't really reject the authority that validated it. However, I do reject the corrupt practices that existed when the Lutheran and Anglican churches were founded. A Protestant was literally one who was protesting against the Roman Catholic Church and it's practices such as indulgences. Now even those of us who are quite close to the R.C. church in our practices and beliefs are considered protestant, but I don't know that we should all be lumped together.

that is a few extra recommendations on the challenge: Why the Apocrypha isn't interior the Protestant Bible. a million. no longer between the apocryphal books is written interior the Hebrew language, which changed into on my own utilized by using the inspired historians and poets of the old testomony. All Apocryphal books are in Greek, except one which is extant only in Latin. 2. not one of the apocryphal writers laid declare to idea. 3. The apocryphal books were under no circumstances acknowledged as sacred scriptures by using the Jews, custodians of the Hebrew scriptures (the apocrypha changed into written previous to the recent testomony). in truth, the Jewish people rejected and destroyed the apocrypha after the overthow of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. 4. The apocryphal books were no longer approved between the sacred books in the course of the first 4 centuries. 5. The Apocrypha includes striking statements which no longer only contradict the "canonical" scriptures yet themselves. operating example, interior both Books of Maccabees, Antiochus Epiphanes is made to die 3 diverse deaths in 3 diverse places. 6. The Apocrypha includes doctrines in variance with the Bible, along with prayers for the lifeless and sinless perfection.

Peter wasn't the first pope. Catholics say that their church was started in the year 1 A.D., when it really started in the 4th century A.D.
