Well, Jesus was first, but the birth of the Muslim faith happened before Jesus. In fact, it goes back to the time of Abraham, who wanted a son and God told him that he would bring him a son even though he and his wife were waaay to old. So Abraham sleeps with his wife's servant, Hagar, and they have Ishmael (which the name means man-of-war, or somehting kinda like that. sorry if I am butchering the facts, but I'm going off the top of my head) Ishmael leaves the household and is the ancestor of Mohammad. Abraham and Sarah, his wife, eventually do have a son, Issac, which is the son God promised to them in the first place. When God tells Abraham to sacrifice his son to Him, and Abraham obeys, God tells him that he will be the father of nations (and he doesn't have to kill his son) and he becomes the father of the Jewish people. That's why Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths are related... they originated from Abraham and his offspring. Of course, this is according to Christian history, so it is only one version.

Jesus began His ministry around 29 A.D., and Muhammad wasn't even born until 570 A.D. Therefore, Jesus preached hundreds of years before Muhammad.

Jesus was before Muhammed. But there were designated "Messiahs" before and after Jesus. Jesus became "it" because of the Roman emperor Theodosius' proclamation that Christianity was to become the official religion of the empire.

Muhammed was a military and political leader who claimed to speak to god. He was rich and powerful and had many wives.

Joseph Smith (the Mormon prophet) was rich and powerful and also claimed to speak to god. He was also the leader of the Nauvoo, Illinois militia and was seeking the presidency of the United States at one point. He also had many wives.

If any man claims to know the mind of god, run from him as fast as you can.
