You can do it! You must want too, though. Don't try to quit for anyone but yourself. Remember to exercise, drink lots of water and don't forget to take your vitamins.

There are a few techniques you can start working on...
1)Remember, there's never just "one more." One always leads to another.
2) cut back one cigarette a day...until you get to day zero.
3) there are many products on the market to help you quit...
4) go to your doctor and he can prescribe you Wellbutrin / Zyban; it's the same stuff but Wellbutrin is prescribed for mild depression and most insurance companies will cover the prescription...Zyban is to quit smoking and most insurance won't cover it. The prescription runs about $100-$150.

I did it using "Cigarrarrest" from the early 90's...and I've never gone back. They took that product off the market because it "didn't work." Ha, I laugh at them. Worked for me...but I really wanted to quit.

Smoking dictates who your friends are, where you sit in a restaurant (if it's allowed in your city; these days) and you are always waiting for you next nic fix...At least I was and I was up to two packs a day.

Once you make your decision to quit, stick to it. It only takes 72 hours for your body to get rid of the physical addition. After that, it's all psychological.

I'm so glad I gave it up and wish you the best!

Grace to you and God Bless

Quit over 10 years ago. I smoked 1-1.5 packs per day for 13 years!
I went on the patch. 90% of the effort comes from the will to give up smoking. Also habit changes helped... like getting rid of my smoking buddies, getting car detailed and putting pot-pourri in the ashtray, getting rid of all matches, lighters and ashtrays.

Can't speak for myself.

Are you familiar with Smokers' Hack? This is a cough that smokers get in the morning. My dad coughed and coughed until he herniated himself. The doctor told him that smoking was causing him to cough, and that every time he coughed, it would feel like someone was kicking him in the nuts. He quit cold turkey.

I cut way back... like five a day before quiting cold turkey. Then I went on vacation. It's hard to light up when your surroundings are unfamiliar. My desire to fit in and not inconvenience others out weighted my need for a cigarette.

patch and lots of will power. hard part was not so much smoking but being in situations where I used to smoke, i.e. the club or bar, pool hall etc. going to those places made it real hard to not smoke. eventually got over it

My dad stopped smoking after literally decades -- his doctor perscribed Wellabutrin. I don't really know how it works, but it made it possible for him to stop. I know it wasn't totally easy, though. Good luck!

If you want to quit anything....you need to start doing something .
else. You will need to find a very powerful motivator like...your health...or your job....to keep you going. In one month you will feel better,,,,,food will regain its taste....you will smell odors you have been missing...(sometimes this is not good) anyway good luck. try doing something else. I quit...so can you!
