PetSmart has a program called the "New Pets Club". If you sign up for their card (which is free) it costs 99 cents and you get a 10% discount on your first purchase. They also have a checksheet of essentials for your new family member.
What you'll need:
--crate (great for potty-training, gives them a safe haven)
--carpet cleaner specific to dog stains (I like Nature's Miracle)
--a high-quality dry dog food
--dishes for food and water
--a collar with ID tags
--a leash
--an assortment of toys to play with
--some sort of treat for training purposes
--a brush tailored to your dog's coat type (if needed)
--shampoo (every time I've had a new they manage to get filthy dirty on day one or come to me that way)
I would also recommend getting a book about dog care and scheduling an appointment with you vet for a wellness exam pronto. Your vet can set up a vaccination schedule, get you started on some heartworm preventative, advise you on spay/neuter, and recommend flea and tick preventative. It is going to be expensive, but it is well worth the price. Good luck with your new family member!

well the first thing that a dog must have is your love! oh and of course the food because u cant leave a dog starving, (i recommend pedigree dog food) and buy a bowl so that u can put the dogs food. your dog needs a collar and a tag so in case it gets lost.(with address, city, phone number and name) and it doesn't really need a bed but it depends where do u have your dog. if u have your dog outside buy it a dog house and if its inside u can let it sleep with u on the bed or it can sleep on the carpet or u can buy a bed. i buy all my dog stuff at pet-smart and pet-co.(i haven't seen a bed for less than $12.00 but u can maybe find one at the flea-market. and if u want to train your dog use the bathroom inside in a certain place buy dog pads. its a square shaped... that absorbs their pee, or just take your dog outside. well i buy my dog some snacks and give it to her every night. but before i give it to her i tell her to sit and she follows my direction. u can do that also. the dogs figure out by themselves that if they do what they are told they get a treat. well think that is about it. oh ya and buy it a toy that it would enjoy playing with. take your dog with you to the store(petsmart) with you and try out the toys and see wich one it likes the best. (they are aloowed to go into the store if they dont fight with other pets) well i guess thats all GOOD LUCK!!!

I would try Ross, TJ Maxx, or some place similar. I got a dog bed at Ross for $10 (note though that my dog is a miniature dachshund and weighs 12lbs, so he's pretty small). Or think about sewing one, like a square/rectangular bed and fill with stuffing.
You'll need:
- a dog collar
- a dog tag (with your contact info if the dog gets lost)
- a leash (one of the cheap 6 foot ones will do)
- 2 dog bowls (water + food, try Walmart they have some for $1 usually)
- baby shampoo (it's cheaper then dog shampoo, buy generic for example Target has some for $1)
- a dog brush
- a kennel (IF you choose to crate train)
- toys!!
(and obviously, food and flea and heartworm medication - for flea and heartworm medication try Petshed.com, its way cheaper)
Remember, pet stores like Petco or Petsmart will be more expensive then Walmart, TJ Maxx, etc. Try checking the dollar store for dog bowls or other pet care stuff too.

The cheapest place I have found to buy LARGE, GOOD dog beds, is at Costco, if you have one nearby, or Sam's Club. Costco sells huge ones for $15, and Sam's for $19. These are good ones with cedar chips inside so they smell nice too.
I have three in the house, and two outside. The covers come off so you can wash them as well.
The most important stuff to purchase before getting a puppy are food (but its hard to pick, because when you get hte puppy it will have been eating something and switching will cause diarrhea and occational vomiting, makde sure they are fully weaned, and litter socialized so no earlier than 8-10 weeks, longer for larger breeds it seems), leash and collar, flea and tick preventative (depending on where you live), set up your fist vet visit, and puppy kindergarten (I would go ahead and schedule the training and start the puppy asap, after first round of shots.
GOOD LUCK!!!

delivery a pup is stressful. Small, tender dogs may have a difficult time making the vacation from Florida to Canada at that youthful an age. paying for a pup from someone on-line is often an iffy project, yet when you're having a difficult time looking th epuppy you favor on your section, it will be your purely option. seek for a breeder that breeds to the classic, AKC or CKC. Do they instruct? have they were given multiple litters a three hundred and sixty 5 days? Do they well-being try? Do they gaurantee well-being? multiple litters(2-3) interior the toy breeds does not be surprizing as they often purely have one million-3 pups per muddle. Weight ought to not be a area in a gaurantee till the dogs is ment for instruct and there are weight regulations interior the classic. you need to properly be more suitable useful off looking on your interior sight classifieds. $one thousand is alot of money for a small breed/puppy high quality pup. keep looking, and do not fall for the first sweet face you observe.

all you need are bowls for food and water, you should also look into getting toys for the puppy to chew on. i have found that my dogs really enjoy ones that make noise. they also really like rope toys and regular tennis balls. you probably need a kennel for the dog to stay in while you leave the house. i have four dogs all with their own kennels. trust me when they whine it doesnt mean they will never get used to it. lock them in the kennel for short periods to start with then gradually increase the time. if the breed sheds a lot you should also get a brush to get out loose fur. a leash would be good to for when you take your dog away from the house. if you are looking for dog treats you dont need expensive treats or name brand stuff. just regular raw hide bones. (anything that tends to last a while.) your dog doesnt nessecarily need a bed either. if you happen to have an old pillow or comforter for a bed just fold it up and throw it in the corner or where ever you are wanting the dog to sleep. but if you are looking for an actual bed made for dogs the prices vary because of size.
well... good luck and i hope this helps. =)

The bascis that you need are food nd water bowls, food, collar, leash, flea and tick shampoo and treatments, vet care (shots and wormings) You might consider getting a crate to keep it in while you are not home if it is not house broken. You should be able to get a small bed for that price at the pet store. Mine just have thier own blankets that I can throw in the wash every day. Go to your local shelter or pet rescue, they have good dogs there that need homes.

good luck on the dog bed for under $12 - I paid $80 for each one I have. Of course, I have large german shepherds, but they are still expensive. If you are so concerned about funds or if money is that tight, now is not the time to get a dog. It's an expensive investment everytime you turn around

A collar---a leash, perferably a harnest(it controls them better and doesn't choke them)---water and food bowl/dish---food (find out what they're allergic to first)---brush---a bed and i dont think there is a good bed under 12.00 except the ones that rip and mess up quickly. And they do have dog litter boxes if that helps

A bowl for water and one for food.
Maybe a cage/kennel to take him to the vet for checkups.
You can make a bed cheaply. Buy some durable fabric, and stuff it with polyester pillow stuffing.
A collar; a leash.
