Just wondering if any of you Atheists or Agnostics believe in some sort of existence as some sort of being, spirit, or energy after death?

Now, I'm not talking about continuing on as the bugs that eat you or the matter from your body getting changed into something else.

Essentially I'm asking if any of you believe that there is some sort of spiritual energy that is part of everyone and whether that spirit or energy continues on after death. Additionally I'm curious as to what you think that existence would be like.

Please explain your answers as I like to know why people believe what they do.

No. But that's just me. An atheist could possibly believe in an afterlife, just not god, or the word atheist doesn't really apply anymore. Most don't, though.

As an agnostic, I say I doubt there's any afterlife. On the surface it seems absurd. You need your brain to be functioning in order to think or feel anything. Once your brain dies, what else is there that could possibly think or feel?

I have read a few wild and crazy scientific theories that it might be possible for some super-advanced technology in the future might be able to reincarnate every human who has ever lived, so my consciousness might awake in that distant world. That seems much more likely than heaven.

No, i believe that once a life is gone, it simply gets extinguished the way a flame does. It's a harsh reality, but I don't need a promise of an afterlife to make me live this life to the fullest. And I am agnostic, it is completely different than being an athiest.

We can't remember anything from before we are born. What makes you think you'll see anything after you die? If there is such a thing as an after life, my idea of a good time is not worshipping a deity while floating on a cloud playing a harp and becoming re-acquainted with a bunch of bible thumping people and relatives I didn't like being around when I was I alive.

I fairly doubt you will ever locate an atheist who believes in an afterlife... props in case you do yet they had could desire to be a particularly self-ignorant man or woman. If I had to wager, i could say maximum agnostics could be uncertain, yet i've got heard in any different case. Me, individually? i assume you may desire to call me agnostic, and that i could no longer have faith in a private afterlife in case you compelled me. that doesn't recommend I completely low value an afterlife, yet i could placed as much as an magnificent santa-like human god a techniques before i could to the concept of heaven or hell. i could desire to think of the continuation of "being", like that of the universe as an entire, yet no longer of a man or woman human spirit, see? after all, i could desire to comprehend why the "afterlife" concept is so usual. Oblivion terrifies me, and the seen an -end- to information is so complicated to allure to close... i could plenty particularly stay perpetually.

Simply put my friend, I think that believing one part of the bible (I and the Father are one) and ignoring others (Is it not written that we are all gods) makes no plausible sense. As far as an after life, I think that I will be used to help the future generations of my family to understand this from a different plane of existence.

No, I don't believe there is any afterlife at all. I don't believe any spirit, ghost, energy, or soul lives on as I don't believe those things exist in the first place.

The only thing I believe - make that KNOW - in regards to this topic is that I don't have a friggin' clue what if anything happens after death. Anything I choose to believe would be just a belief, not fact.

No. Why? Because that is the most logical answer. Believing in anything else is just romantic thinking.
