It was and is the Jewish custom not to let a body remain unattended, and it was considered a curse to be displayed dangling from a tree.

23(A)his corpse shall not hang all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him on the same day (for (B)he who is hanged is accursed of God), so that you (C)do not defile your land which the LORD your God gives you as an inheritance.

62 Now on the morrow, which is the day after the Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered together unto Pilate,
63 saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said while he was yet alive, After three days I rise again.
64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest haply his disciples come and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: and the last error will be worse than the first.
65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a guard: go, make it as sure as ye can.
66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, the guard being with them.
not many people live very long after being stabbed in the side with a spear....

30When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
31Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. 32The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other. 33But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. 35The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may

Yes, many times people were left up for several days to be on display with their crimes written and nailed to their cross against them. However, most tribunal courts were held on the first day of the week, in respect to the Jews sabbath, so the dead could be buried prior to the sabbath day - it was a small Roman appeasement to keep some form of civility among themselves and the Jews. However, this was a time of Passover, when blood was to be sprinkled upon the door post of every Jewish home in remembrance of their flight from Egypt when the death angel passed over their homes and struck only the first born of the Egyptians prior to their release. Christ being the first born of God and the redeemer for all past and present and future, it was necessary that his sacrifice be made on this passover - so even though the Jews were not aware they were fulfilling God's plan, by their haste in wanting him crucified, they followed the will of God that Christ be given a special tribunal and sentenced to die. The fact that court had been called also meant that any in holding would go ahead and be tried at that time as well. Which is why we see that three were crucified that day. I hope this has been helpful to you in understanding a little bit of background history and the relevance of why Christ hearing was not put off until the first day of the week.

Because the Passover was coming.
The Romans didn't celebrate Passover, of course. But they knew the Jews did.
One way the Romans were (by and large) able to avoid uprisings against their rule was to permit the people they conquered to practice their religion freely.
And one of those practices, for the Jews, involved not having dead bodies hanging on crosses during holidays like Passover.
The Romans crucified plenty of people, so there was no reason to leave Jesus and the other two crucified men on their crosses on that particular weekend. There was always another crucifixion coming up shortly after that.

Wow, you sure don't know much about Roman history don't you?
Once on the cross, the Romans did'nt much care what happened to you. In fact it was a favorite pastime of kids to pitch rocks or rotten fruit at the condemned.
Stories about Roman archers using the crucified as targets so that they would know when they hit. This could go on for a while until the target stopped yelling.
As for lower castes, where do you get your historical information? Bubblegum wrappers?
Several senators and even the wife of an emperor were crucified.
Please get a smattering of information before you post here ok?

Jesus was taken down from the Cross because there was a huge earthquake that rocked Calvery, the area where Jesus was Crucified. As you said, the guards had to protect those being Crucified, so they took down Jesus and the other two being crucified.

Don't you remember when the Roman temples begin to shake and crumble after Jesus' crucifixion? They realized that he was the Son of Man.
