Don't just say follwing Christ. I want what characteristics a person needs to be considered a Christian beyond claiming to be one.

Going to church doesn't make one a Christian any more than standing in a stable makes one a horse.
Why if these attributes are so positive do people dislike them so?

Jesus says in the Bible to "take up your cross and follow me".
I have always felt that we just need to look at the model that Jesus was to others.
The Beatitudes in the Bible is a good place to start.
But some of the characteristics I believe are: patience, understanding, love, honesty, tolerance, forgiveness, prayer, and I could go on.
The desire to get to know Jesus and have a relationship with HIM through prayer, as well as being an example to others, are what makes a Christian different from others. If you have a relationship with Christ through prayer and you are on a walk in your Christian life where you are becoming mature, you will exhibit these characteristics without even trying.

Well, in defintion, they would believe in Christ as the Savior, be tolerant and loving and forgiving, trying to make Christs characteristics their own.
Things like daily prayer, church, bible reading does not make one a Christian. Anyone can do those things, with no knowledge of Christ.

No, that does no longer make you a "good" individual. there isn't any such component as a "good" or "undesirable" individual. all and sundry is a sinner, it even says so interior the bible. besides the undeniable fact that, while you're a Christian, you have a value tag to heaven, and you're saved. Read the Bible.
The word "Christian" means like Christ. That means no bad language, dont murder (fightin in wars for a good cause is ok), No crude humor (like yo momma jokes), Show love (Christ loved us so much that he gave his life away for us), Be nice and respectful, respect your parents, don't steal (even if its a lil pin), Dont do adultry (lookin at another women is adultry at heart, whatever you do at heart is almost the same as actually doin it in real life), Don't covet, Honor God and follow him, Prayerlessness is sin, dont eat (or drink) blood from animals or humans.

being a Christian means to be Christ like so therefore Jesus set an example for us to follow on how to do everything he did just right..me personally what i do to show myself being an example to others :i read my bible daily not only read but i study it daily, i pray daily to god and i even just talk to him doing the day at times because hes my friend,i go to church as often as i can ,i try to live right and do whats pleasing to god meaning i threat others the way i want to be treated i know i am not perfect and i fall short of the glory ,i try to help others in any way i can , i try to teach others about the goodness of the lord and i love to talk about Jesus with anyone who will listen....i have not always done whats right but i know i am forgiven of my sins and i still might stumble along the way but god knows my heart and you don't have to be perfect to follow after Jesus i am a woman after gods own heart but above all i love the lord with everything that i am ...does that make me a christian i sure hope so because i know Jesus is pleased with what i am doing trying to save souls is what its all about saving the lost..being a christian is more than accepting Christ its a way of life ....

Asking Jesus into your life makes U a christian.
I my own words a pure christian is someone who thinks B4 they talk, They read the bible everyday, thay prey B4 every meal, they go to church ALL THE TIME, and they love God Jesus and everyone around them.

Believeing that Jesus was the song of God. Many people that are not Chirstians beleive in what Jesus said (though they have different versions of what that was) and that he was born without the usual conception, but it is believeing that Jesus is God that makes a Christian a Christian.

Believe with your heart that Jesus is the son of God, that he died for your sins, ask him to come into your heart, then read the Bible to get to know him better and follow after his example. Also believe in his imminent return and share the Gospel with others.

If a person truely comes to know the Lord Jesus and accepts Him as their Saviour you will be able to see the difference in their lives. It is a change of values, motives and actions. It is a change of heart.

Christians are gullable fools who believe in fairy tales. Sometimes they beleive so much that it damages and harms their lives and society. The world would be better off without many such people.
