I am considering leaving the army for injuries to my hands and PTSD that I got from getting blown up in a car bomb in Iraq. I am fully fit for duty but I still want to get out of there while I can. I've been in for two years now and am currently seeing a psychologist and taking an anti-depressant for PTSD symtoms. Some people have told me that I would recieve a less than honorable discharge stating I was "mentally unstable" which is not good. I was also told I would recieve a medical discharge with "under honorable condtions" being the header. If you know what you're talking about, please feel free with your input.

Since you just admitted that you are fully fit for duty - then you have no basis for asking for a medical discharge. Under these condition then you would deserve a less than honorable.

Just complete your term of service like you promised you would.

I totally understand wher you are coming from in wating to get out but if you think about it you are in a situation that they wont send you out again and getting out in only two more years would really be the much better option. Im not saying that you couldn t get a job with a general or an under honarble discharge, but think of all the benifits you could have if you just stick it out. the G.I bill, housing loans, medical and dental, and also if you pay 600 more dollars you can get the Kicker to ad 30,000 more dollars towards college education. Its stressful but you wont be like me wishing that I can get back in and cant. If you really step back and look at things besides all of the B.S we have to go through the military really takes care of us.
