It was originally lots of works by lots of people written over a period of some several hundred years and has several different versions so I suppose that I should answer YES. This is why it is so full of contradictions and also why there is any difference between Jews and Christians. It has not been changed enough over time in my opinion, people now are basing their life on the opinion of societies from nearly two thousand years ago and lets face it, times have changed since then! The only parts really worth reading are those that seem to be what Jesus taught himself, I am not a Christian or Jewish but I think we have a lot to learn from Jesus about how to treat others!

~Man, you are going to get some angry answers from stupid people who think it was written by God!

It has been re-told, then re written, then translated several times (some people think it was wriiten in English by Jesus). Be religious, fine, but remember that the bible is a book of myth. It tells religious stories and most, with the possible exception of the gospels) have always been intended to be taken as such. The ancient Greeks were very spiritual, but they did not believe Zeus split his head open with an axe to give birth to Athena. They didn't see it that literally. They used the story to teach things like parental responsibility and honor. The bible stories are the same things. Did Noah REALLy get swallowed by a whale? No. Most priests will tell you no as well. But the story is an allegory for being swallowed by temptation and sin, and using faith to find your way out. Belive it or not, it is possible to be intellectual and even skeptical about the authenticity of the bible without sacrificing a bit of your faith. Just see it as a guidebook and not an encyclopedia, ok?

I'm not sure what you mean by over written. The bible was written years after Jesus though. This distance of time probably did cause differences in truth. You also have to remember that the bible is not a first person narrative. It is full of opinions of others. Any historical document is not completely correct. History is based on the way people right it, not what really happened.

No. To claim such would be ignoring historical fact. You see we have thousands of biblicall documents saying the same thing - not thousands of biblica documents saying different things.

If changes were made, we would have historical proof of a change because there would likely be an older version that would contest the newer version.

Furthermore, if you really care, you will see that we can take writings from the early Christian history that quote from scriptures. If you take early Christian, Roman and Jewish writings that quote Christian scriptures (i.e. the Bible), you could recreate the entire new testament - just based off the quotes of the New Testament.

The belief that the Bible is a copy of a copy of a copy and therefore inaccurate is not historical and an easy way for ignorant people to disregard it.

It has many authors, there is no question on that. Not only that but different bibles have different translations based on the beliefs of the group. It takes a real good understanding or God to know what it means. It even says in one part that you must rightly divide the word of truth. This means that you must interpret the context of what was said over just believing or reading blindly the content.

yes I do. there is no way millions of years ago all this information could have been kept properly and safe. Not with all the wars going on back then too. Plus its this mans idea and that mans idea. Like OK were where all the woman. In the Bible they all were having babies till they dropped dead.

Of course it was, and the Vatican will hide any facts to the contrary. For instance, they removed all references to Jesus's younger brother and sister because they felt Mary should remain a virgin (contrary to being a good Jewish wife). They removed all references to Lilith, Adam's first wife. And they also changed the wording in a few areas that are being questioned.

Definitely, the bible has been rewritten and edited many times throughout history. The bible today probably isn't as accurate and correct as everyone thinks.

yes its a fact COnstantinople wanted to be remembered so he got all the heads of church and such to canonize the bible and make it one consistent thing. thats where the whole trinity crap started was so they could make a "pope" who would be "god's rep. on earth". they burned all other versions of the bible besides theyre new one and imprisoned or killed people who opposed them.. sorta like our governemnt.. but anyway, so the real text was lost and now we have the different denominations all making their own adjustments.. so yea, its kidna obvious, dude.

No, because we have thousands of early manuscripts that prove that the Bible we have today is the same Bible we had 2000 years ago.
