Okay, the unforgivable sin, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, is rejecting Christ. Got that. Question, if you become saved, and after many years, change your mind, become an athiest, reject the Bible, God, reject Christ and the Holy Spirit, is that also unforgivable?

I was taught "once saved, always saved" but is it possible that it refers also to people who believe and then reject GOD, as part of the unforgivable sin?

Im not worried about my own salvation, I believe, but another poster asked a question and it made me think. Thanks!

For those of you that are answering with no apparent knowledge: When you accept Christ, you recieve the Holy Spirit. When you reject Christ, it is rejection, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, it is unforgivable.

There are many ways of looking at this.
If person comes to God, sincerely repentent, with a contrite heart, and truly invites Jesus into his heart, do you believe He (aka Holy Spirit) then takes up actual residence in the heart ("seat of emotions")?
I do.
If He is living within you, won't He be constantly in communication with you?
I should think so.
Of course, you may not be listening so well, but does that mean He's gonna move out?
I doubt it.
If you stop listening long enough and begin to move away from your faith, will the HS in you quietly let you go?
Doesn't seem very likely to me. I believe The Good Shepherd will search for His lamb till He finds it and brings it home again.
Salvation, according to the Bible, is a gift. You can't earn it, or buy it, God gives it to all who ask for it. Would God give you a gift and then take it back again?
I don't think so.

Once you are saved, you are saved. My son can love me until he is 30. Think everything in the world of me. Then hate me with all his being just like that. Do you honestly believe I am going to love him any less just because of that? No. In fact, it would make me work harder on him. Always remember, for everything God has the Devil has an opposite. Anything he can do to bring you away from the Word of God, he will do. He finds an edge and exploits. So the real question now becomes, what has happened to make you turn away? Sin is only forgivable if asked for forgiveness. Do you really reject Christ or is it a manifestation of your own insecurities? Has Christ truly left your heart or are you deceiving your own self? Those are the real questions....

The answer someone had earlier is also correct. Many who believe they are saved will not be because it will not be heartfelt. True salvation lies within truly accepting Jesus Christ.... Someone who is truly saved is not going to "backslide". Someone who is truly saved is not going to reject Christ just like that.... That is what true salvation is....

Hope this helps clarify...don't want to start a preach!

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the denial that you received Him when you actually did. (went to an altar, received the Holy Spirit, then leave and say it didn't happen - this could be the same day or years later, no matter.)

Also, yes, if you believe, accept and walk it, and then step away, you will go to Hell when you die if you don't repent. One time at altar or saying a prayer then continuing or beginning to sin again will not get you into heaven. several scriptures below to prove it.

Just to show a few scriptures (there are dozens) that show you "once saved, always saved" is a false doctrine teaching.

"1Cor 15:2
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain."

If they did not continue in their salvation, the change that happened to them will be of no use. That is, they have lost the position of salvation.

"Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace."

If our salvation slipped from change of life to religiosity, we fell from grace.

"2Thess 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first,.."

Few saved people will be deceived and fall away. So, saved is not always saved.

"1Tim 3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil."

A new person who is saved is more vulnerable to fall into condemnation.

blaspheming the Holy Spirit is not forgiveable but you are worried about things because you asked the question. Rejecting Jesus isnt nor is rejecting GOD unforgeable all 3 LOVE YOU!! IF judas would have gone back to Jesus --------Jesus would have forgiven judad look at Paul he made sure Christians were killed Jesus forgave him & used paul in a mighty way even when Peter denied Christ & cursed Jesus --------Jesus STILL FORGAVE Peter. Dont allow the Church or whoever tell you you cannot be forgiven OK -----what does the Bible tell you that is your anserwer man interrprets what he wants GOD is the Author man put it down years ago i was in satanic lies even tho i was raised Pentecostal but yet Jesus forgave me & removed the lies to the TRUTH of GOD. The place in your Life that you left GOD & JESUS CHRIST & THE HOLY SPIRIT ARE STILL THERE looking at theyre watches wondering when your coming back???? GOD dosent find us WE find GOD so think how your Life is now without GOD you see the news you read the papers everything in the Bible about the end times is here the rapture is right here right now . ASK for forgiveness you will recieve it

I've wondered this myself. I was raised with the "once saved always saved" teaching and so I was "saved" as a lil girl. Although I'm not an atheist, but rather, searching, I've wondered about this as well.

But if I had to pick an answer to your question, then I would say that no, it's not part of the unforgiveable sin. Otherwise, people that were "saved," left the beliefs and went "into the world" would not be able to come back to their faith as so many have. Wouldn't you agree?

I think that if you reject the Holy Spirit after becoming a Christian. And you decide to not follow Christ....you never really had Him in the 1st place.

Thats just what I think. Don't quote me on that.

Edit:
Angeltress: Have you read the story of Job? God gives, and God can take away....or let the devil take away....either way, a gift given can be a gift taken.

Of course, I don't think that pertains to the gift of salvation, but still...=)

I believe rejecting The Holy Spirit means something like this;
Every sin can be forgiven, but if a person don't accept the forgiveness, how can it happen?
Or if my only way to be saved from drowning is accepting an outreached hand and I don't accept it??
Or if I'm stuck in jail with no chance of ever getting out, and then someone wants to pay the prize to get me out, but I don't receive it; there's just no other way out..

I don't know the accurate answer to this but i think tht rejecting the Holy Spirit will be considered as an unforgivable sin even if you were saved....a true believer will never do tht and a christian by name is not worthy to be called a true believer

People change their minds after becoming aware of the entire universe, it's entities, other life forms, dimensions, knowledge of thyself and realizing they are a spirit attached to a body. You are given the power to create and be the architect of your life.

Anyone or anything making the marks of hell, a devil, a Crucifixion, holy wars, Apocalypse or enslavement of the spirit is condemned as evil and a parasite in the mind of humans.

Religions, through their mortal representatives seem to profess final answers to everything when it can hardly fathom the depth of truth in every person and every circumstance.

As we have not yet come to face finality, it would be wise of us to continually seek goodness and emulate it. Without need for judgement, our compassionate presence could manifest the work of the Holy Spirit. And, basking in the joy of God's presence, no words of affirmation are needed either. Love is sufficient unto itself.
